I read the first question and thought about my answer; then I got to this answer and was floored...

What are you thinking? This response seems mean-spirited to me.

How about kindness??

Autism is a very difficult condition and we really have a lot to learn. I hope that nurses who are willing to work with people afflicted with, or affected by Autism, will get more support for such difficult work.

Yes indeed Baxtersmom - it was mean spirited - and I don't mean to pick on Fatima at all - but - an interview tomorrow?

a - I would hope anyone interviewing for a specialist job like this would have gathered enough intel.

b - asking for last minute advice is likely to confuse rather than help.

c - It is impossible on so little information to understand the type of role Fatima is applying for.

eg

in-pt or community or day hospital?

ages of children - pre-school only/ over 5s only / 0 - adolescent?

early intervention or post diagnoses maintenance and support?

range and levels of social functional impairment?

I've worked with children with autism. There is no one size fits all simple 'tip'.

What would have helped would be more information about the job requirements. If Fatima had asked this last week - I might have responded with those questions.

But I did wish her good luck. :)

you are very rude! All i did was ask for some help from people who have experience. I just found out about this interview 2 days ago! I know all about autism and what the children are like but I just wanted some words of wisdom from someone who has experience.

I totally didn't expect someone to be rude on this forum i signed up about a week ago thinking I can get some kind help and support about nursing and I have gotten a lot of help since I have been here. It's ok I wont let one rude person on this forum ruin it for me. If you are going to be rude just don't reply to the thread at all.

hi fatima. dont let one rude person get you down. I've been on here for a yr and only experienced a handful of rude people. How did it go, BTW? Did you get the job?

they told me HR should get in touch with me within a week and if they dont call me then i should go ahead and call them. the interview went pretty well.

C would've been a much better answer instead of what you previously had posted.

Fatima, my first reponse to you was unnecessarily abrupt and rude. I apologise.
