How to get started.

Hi all I'm currently in nursing school and will be graduating in 2.5 semesters. Will be earning my BS. I'm the kind of person who really likes to have a good game plan for the future. I have decided to start thinking about how to get a job in the field I want and get stuff related to that going now, before I graduate.

Really interested in psychiatric nursing and I really want to work in that field. Looking for tips, pointers, ideas for how to get into that field when I graduate. Any certs I should be looking to get, extra classes, anything recommended to do?

    Thanks in advance.

Honestly I don't think it's too difficult to get a psych position. It was the first job offer I got so I went for it. I was fortunate that I met one of the managers at my hospital when she was at my school for recruitment shortly before I graduated. I kept her card and gave her a call when I was job hunting. It takes a special nurse to really WANT to work in psych. Best of luck to you!
