i am about to graduate from nursing school next month. i really want to do psych/behavioral health nursing, and i live in alabama georgia area. i am wondering if anyone has any advice on some good facilities/hospitals to work. i am looking at state hospitals and free standing psych hospitals but i am open to looking at psych units in medsurg hospitals. does anyone have any advice for a new grad interested psych nursing. thanks!

It would depend on where in Alabama/Georgia you live. I am originally from South AL...in south Alabama, there is one state hospital (Searcy), and Mobile Infirmary has the only inpatient unit. You can search the Alabama Dept. of Mental Health/Mental Retardation website for information on the state hospitals. Good luck!
