  1. So well stated. We do owe our patients more than just assessment and education on disease processes. I often feel like mental health /depression and pain are overlooked. In the past 3-5 years in home health, I see more emphasis in checking pain, but little on mental health unless the pt. has overt issues eg., suicidal. I personally try to listen ,give emotional support ,and advise pt and communicate to doctor of mental health changes. When I feel I am losing my compassion, I take a long weekend or week vacation.
Glad you have recovered well enough to work-- and have such great insight. There can be something positive to come out of a challenging life experience. :redpinkhe
  2. I live in Wisconsin and am looking to do independent private duty nursing. I have no idea where to start or how involved it is. Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance

  3. I have been a nurse now for 20 years. I'm very interested in Private Duty Nursing however like your post I have no idea how to begin. Did you ever figure it out?? Like how to obtain a provider number in your state for medicare/medicaid. I'd be very interested to hear what you found out.

    Thanks,
