Considering PDN--any advice on Maxim, PSA or Interim?

I have been in nursing for 9 years. Spent 4 years on an inpatient Oncology unit, then 5 years in Home Health (LOVED it) and now since relocating out of state have been on an inpatient surgical oncology for floor for about a month (DETEST it). I have applied to several home health and PD agencies but know almost nothing about this area. Does anyone have advice about any of the companies listed above?

I am use to traveling and seeing about 4-7 patients a day. I love the autonomy and the one-on-one time with my patients. Due to my hubby's work schedule I now need evening or night shifts so I'm thinking that PDN may be a good option for me. Any thoughts?

When I applied at the local Interim office one of my references told me that they had not been contacted. I called to check on the status of my application and they said they had no idea who I was. When I called again, I got the same response, even though I had been in the office for quite some time and took all the preemployment tests. I was disgusted. I also noticed that they weren't HIPAA compliant. Full names on a whiteboard right at the front near the door for all the world to see. It listed available work that I could have been assigned. Hope that was only how this one office operates. Very unprofessional.

There are several posts concerning both Maxim and PSA. PSA has a bad reputation and so does Maxim. Neither one of them are safe employers and should be avoided.

That was what I was afraid I would hear. I have a friend that works with the Maxim here in town and she seems to like it. Maybe it's different from agency to agency. Geez . . . now I'm really confused. I have an appointment to meet with someone at Maxim tomorrow. I too have heard bad things about PSA. I need to find a good place to go because after this horrible experience at the hospital I need a good safe place to work!

Thanks for the advice.

Different internal employees at different Maxim offices at different points in time can mean the difference between a bad work experience and a good one. But when the risk of a bad situation becomes a reality, then it is too late to avoid them.

What is so bad about PSA? I am in Georgia and I recently applied to work for them. I have heard good things about them. Does it depend on the supervisor or maybe the specific office that you are dealing with?

I have worked for PSA for 10 years and each location is different, the entire company has changed hands three times, once public traded on stock market guided by share holders, than privately owned, now is privately owned by a few gentleman, we went from having the entire package, DME, Nursing, Pharm to just PDN cases and PPEC. It is what you make it!! Next to Hospital and LTC I'll take it!!! Hands Down!!
