What about putting in writing, detailing when the 1st request was for a replacement for this client and then doing a 2 week resignation from that particular client; again in writing. I would just ensure to cover my butt!

Good advice from this poster. Also are you in an "at will" state in regards to employment. If so it doesnt matter who, what or if, you and/or your employer can terminate employment at any time without explanation. With this in mind I would do as stated above and document your request.

Unless you have a contract promising a job until a specific date (asssuming you do your job properly) the can terminate you any time (in most states)without cause, as long as the termination was not for age, religion, marital status, etc.

You do not have to work with any client that you do not wish to. As far as firing you for asking to be replaced, the agency probably would not. Nurses ask to be removed from cases all the time and they are given new cases. However, if you haven't been called for new work after a few weeks, I would assume that the agency is no longer considering you for work. When you inquire, if you get the answer: "We just don't have any available work" then expect that you are being fed a line. If they can advertise for, and/or hire new employees, give new work to other nurses, then they have the work. They just aren't offering it to you. That is the sneaky way that agencies constructively terminate an employee. Best to find a new employer in that case.
