We can take it 5 or 10 pounds at a time so those of us with a lot to lose won't get discouraged. We can officially start April 1st so everyone can prepare and get their last binges out of the way. :roll

HI....

just checking in....I have been successfully losing weight....exercising....and feeling alot better....riding my bike...walking....doing some weights...

I started the nutrisystem weight plan....which has given me the jump start I needed....I like the portion control mindset...I don't get hungry....and the food isn't bad...I worried about the cost...but it's actually cheaper than what I was spending on junk food...so, I just supplement with dairy, fruit, and fresh vegs....and I am doing really well with it....my hope is to drop about 60-80 pounds by the end of the summer....I think I can do this....so far, I have lost about 7 pounds....

hope you are all doing well too....hand in there!!

I would love to join this but is everyone still posting? I'm leaving for nursing school in about 3 months and I would love to loose weight and get really healthy.

I would also love to join. I have not yet applied to nursing school but will in a few months and would love to lose some weight before I start school.

tommorrow I'm starting officially:) My plan is to eat in a good calorie range for myself, make the healthiest food choices I can and exercise as much as possible(I'm aiming for 6x a week for atleast 45mins to an 1 hr a day) and I plan to walk whenever I can fit in some time.

Just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing! I am managing to fit in all of my training sessions each week and am still eating healthy despite summer school!

My boyfriend just bought Dance Dance Revolution for xBox (it's that game where you jump around and try to match arrows up with the screen as songs play). It is very fun and a great cardio workout to boot!! We take turns and before you know I've snuck in an easy 30 minutes of cardio!

Well so far this summer I have lost 30 lbs!!!! Basically I am doing a low-calorie diet. I eat a bowl of bran cereal in the morning with 2% milk, a sandwich with canned pineapple in natural juice, and then dinner is protein and veggies, (VERY little carbs). I drink 64 oz or more of water and exercise an hour a day. No snacking period. And Sunday I have whatever I want to eat, of course in moderation. I have about 80lbs to go but the changes in my body are worth the sacrifice and discipline that is required!

If it's not too late, I think I'll start too. Ok, so I'm more than 3 months late on this one (wouldn't be the first time). Anyway, a co-worker and I decided we were going to diet together and be each other's support and oh, I don't know, we have family members that are much too generous with their food gifts to us, lol. Temptation is my worst enemy. I don't have very strong will power. I lost a ton of weight a couple years back, I don't know an exact number, b/c I never stepped on a scale before I started. I do know I went from wearing a jeans size 18 to wearing a jeans size 6. WOW! I hope I can at least go from my current size 12 to an 8. That would make me happy (probably not, when I'm an 8, I'll probably pray for a 5 but we're going to go with a "lose 10 lbs" mentality and then when I lose that, I'll "lose another 10 lbs". I'm going to start tomorrow. Thanks for making me realize what I already realized and didn't want to face up to.

I went to my Doctor this morning for a routine checkup -- feeling a little guilty that I have only lost 4 pounds in the last 3 months. But she is still thrilled with me as I have lost 36 pounds over the last 9 months and my blood glucose and blood pressure readings are all within normal. (I am mildly diabetic and take meds for hypertension.)

Now that I have lost a significant amount of weight, she and I agreed that the focus is on maintaining those changes in diet and exercise that I have made in the last 9 months. This is no longer a "short-term diet" it needs to be a "lifestyle I can live with for the rest of my life." I am still going to try to lose more weight (another 25 pounds or so) -- but probably at a rate of 1-2 pounds per month.

I am also focusing a little more of my exercise on toning and building muscle -- which might partly explain why I have only lost 1 pound so far this month. I need to do something about all this flab! ... and I need to find a good bra to lift these girls a bit higher!

lol, boy do I know that feeling (lifting the girls a little bit higher). Well, congrats on the weight lost and keeping it off. I think the hardest part for me is though I'm an intelligent person and KNOW it won't come off over night, I get upset that it doesn't. Then I get discouraged when I hit a plateu. I need something to keep me focused. I used to hang a sign on my refrigerator that read "Nothing Tastes As Good As Being Thin Feels" that way, when I went for a snack, I'd be smacked in the face with this sign and grab the celery instead of the cheesecake. Now, I just try to stay away from even buying stuff like that. (my poor kids and hubby, lol. It'll do them some good too).

A few years ago I lost 40 pounds. I never gained it back. So it IS possible to lose the wait and keep it off. I attribute this to exercise and eating few simple carbs such as white bread and sugar. I really don't crave much because if I want something I have one or two small bites. Small portions.

So I don't need to lose any weight...I'm just popping in to say it is possible and keep at it!

Here I am again. I've gained 8 lbs since I posted this last March. I got overwhelmed with taking 19 credits last semester, and I stopped going to the gym - while increasing my intake.

I weigh 136 lbs. My normal healthy weight is 128. I'm going to the gym 5 days per week. I'm upping my cardio to a full 60 minutes on the elliptical trainer and increasing my resistance training slowly.

It's so important to me that I nip this in the bud while it's a very manageable and minor 8 lbs. If I let this go further, I might feel overwhelmed.

So count me in. My goal is to lose 1.5 lbs per week for the next three weeks and then slooowly lose the last 3 lbs. I think it should work.

I come from a family of obese diabetics, and it's really important to me to not go down that path.

I'm tempted to say, "Welcome back!" but I don't think that's really the right thing to say in this case. But of course, you ARE welcomed back, and I wish you the best of luck in your efforts.

Thank you, llg. Congratulations on your weight loss!

The talk about the girls - for the first time in years I have some voluptuous girls. I'll be sad to see them go.
