I've heard it was easier to get into the ABSN program, but dunno for sure.
I looked on their web site recently and it appears they have changed it. Now people with a previous BA or BS can only apply for their ABSN. This may be recent with the budget cuts and they know they can get a lot more money out of the ABSN students.

I am really surprised that a state school can charge the fees they do for a program. They charge private school rates for their ABSN. I am surprised they can charge that much for a state school. It kind of irks me and it is not that accelerated as it is 2 years.

Certainly not willing to pay 50,000. Not willing to pay 32,000 for a two year program and I don't consider 2 years accelerated. Would maybe (big maybe) pay 32,000 for a one year program.

I know there are programs out there a lot cheaper but I just have to find them. That is the hard part, finding them.

i havent found a cheaper program in california Everest College has a 2 year full time ADN program for 46,000 but you have to take a few tests and interview with nurse and maybe get accepted only 40 slots but 500 applicants and there is west coast university with a tuition of 126,000 you take a hesi exam pass and you are in as long as you can afford it. as far as no jobs i keep talking to new grads and they get employed after passing test. But you know what come to think of it as i am typing these were all graduates of private schools. I wonder if these schools have agreements with hospitals?

Not in Cali but there is a school in Oklahoma that accepts EVERYONE as long as they meet the requirements. Its called Oklahoma City University (http://www.okcu.edu). They have some type of agreement with the government to decrease the nursing shortage. They have BSN, ABSN, MSN, and doctoral programs. They only turn people away for the doctoral programs. Of course its pricier than community colleges but if youre really discouraged then you should give it a try. I looked at their ABSN program and its around $43,000. Im in the same boat youre in. I have a 3.37 and thats not good enough to get me into any schools in MI, so Ive been applying to schools in Ohio and Indiana instead. If I dont get accepted into any of those programs then Oklahoma will be my LAST resort. But when you want something bad enough you have to do whatever it takes to get it. If I do have to end up going there the only thing I wouldnt like is the lack of diversity I hear the state has especially since Im black and in MI we have people of all the colors of the rainbow here

THanks for the info but I highly doubt I would go to Oklahoma. You think MI has all colors of the rainbow, I live in San Francisco and here we truely cover all the counties in the globe. That and we are liberal and I am even more liberal so I don't really think I would fit in in Oklahoma.

But also I am sure there is an ABSN in CA I can get into for under 43,000. There are a few at around 30,000. I "think" when I posted this I was wonderring about the state schools. I don't think there is a single state school that has less than 600 or 700 applicants for 50 or so sports. Many of the state schools have 1000 or 1,500 applicants for 50 or so slots.

Anyway thanks for the info though. Good luck to you as well.
