What is your MYERS BRIGGS personality, and what area of nursing are you going into?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

just curious to see the personality types alongside the specialty or type of nursing everyone is persuing, or is already doing..

istj, isfj, infj, intj, istp, isfp, infp, intp, estp, esfp, enfp, entp, estj, esfj, enfj, entj

who's taken the myers briggs test? which one are you? what nursing degree do you have or are you going for?

Yet another INFJ :yeah:. My primary interest is Peds in any way, shape or form. I found the cardiovascular chapter in A&P quite interesting as well so that might be an acceptable second choice. I might enjoy neuro as well. My long term goal is to become an NP and work in long term missions. Serving my "deep convictions about the weightier matters of life" as a "champion of the oppressed and downtrodden." :redbeathe When I decided to live my authentic life and say YES to my calling :w00t:, this plan gave me incredible peace and vision for my life. It's been quite a ride already and I have really enjoyed it!

Specializes in ICU/ CCU.

ENFJ....that is definitely me! What an interesting test. I am beginning the ADN program this fall, but my long term goal is to become a nurse practitioner, either PNP or FNP.

Specializes in Neuro, Geriatrics, Progressive Care.

I am an ISFJ.

Qualitative analysis of your type formula

You are:

  • moderately expressed introvert
  • slightly expressed sensing personality
  • moderately expressed feeling personality
  • moderately expressed judging personality

It also says that:

ISFJs live in a world that is concrete and kind. They are truly warm and kind-hearted, and want to believe the best of people. They value harmony and cooperation, and are likely to be very sensitive to other people's feelings. People value the ISFJ for their consideration and awareness, and their ability to bring out the best in others by their firm desire to believe the best.

It describes me well. I would like ICU, OB but I will not know for sure until I get into the curriculum this Fall! Ready for the excitement to begin

Specializes in Critical care.

I am an ESFJ and I am going for my BSN, perhaps via my ADN as one of the schools I have applied to only offers ADN and RN to BSN.

I surprised to see how many I's there are! ok, not surprised....concern? LOL Perhaps E's don't make the best nurses?????? I sure hope that isn't the case! I think majority are FJ's which could say something to the profession we have chosen.

Fun post, thanks for getting my mind off nursing school for 30 seconds! :-)

Oh and I really want to go into Ped's, trauma or rehab care.

Yay! I was begining to wonder if I was the only one!Nurse was actually the first profession on the list. :) I want to either go into ob/gyn or med-surg. I'm starting to lean more towards med-sur, but I still have a while to figure that out.

Annnnd....INFJ!:D lol. I start my BSN program this fall with no prior medical experience so I'm really trying to keep my mind open to any area, but my current interest is L&D, mainly mother/baby care, peds, and psych. It's hard to make a decision without experiencing it. I do find it interesting that many of the other INFJ's have similar interests when it comes to what areas of nursing we're interested in.

Interesting test. I did one on discovering your own strengths which is kinda like this one. I'm a ENFJ. Thanks for sharing.

I was actually really surprised too! I wonder why that is. It seems as if the majority are I's and us E's are the minority. I'm an ENFP.

Specializes in LDRP.

INFP, im surprised to see so many introverts on here! when my class started there were 64 of us and only two I's in the whole class.. they told us every year the most common MB type at our school for each class is ESFJ...

anyway, im interested in psych, drug/rehab nursing, home health, and MAYBE peds.

edit: i think the overabundance of I's could be because I's are more likely to sit on forums all day. haha.

INFJ..interested in ED, OR eventually wanting to do CRNA.

Specializes in Critical care.

LOL good point! Even as an "E" there are days I could read these posts all day gathering information...and fear :lol2:

ISTJ- Interested in anything at this point. I just want to get through NS! What are good career paths for ISTJ nurses??

:D
