What was your GPA, when you got accepted into nursing school?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing Nursing Q/A

There seems to be a lot of questions on how important GPA is to get into a program.

I decided to start a thread where people can see , and average them out. We can all speculate on the importance, but to see the numbers, sometimes helps.

I hope it helps some people. I hope we all achieve our goals.

I start in January an RN program, my GPA is 4.0

When I started nursing school in 2009, my GPA was 3.9. However my program put a lot of focus on ACT scores, in which I had a 29. I had no trouble being admitted.

Gpa before nursing school: 3.8

Gpa during nursing school (at that school only): 2.5

I actually raised my GPA in nursing school. It's easier for me to excel in subjects that interest me, and I knew that having a good GPA was required for masters programs. I have never understood the concept of " C's get degrees; it's an excuse in my opinion.

4.0 pre nursing. I recieved a 100% in a&p, chem, and organic chem:)

In my last semester and its down to 3.69:(

I was accepted to an accelerated BSN program, which requires you already have a bachelor's degree. My nursing school uses the TEAS entrance exam, which I scored an 84. My cumulative undergrad GPA = 3.22 (After freshman year at a huge university I had a 2.04 GPA... I transferred to a smaller university, and my GPA for the remaining classes that I took there was 3.38, so maybe the school took that into consideration)

I start the program in May 2013!! Good luck to anyone else who is applying to nursing school!

I have a 3.4. I applied to some schools for Fall 2013 admittance. What are my chances?

It depends on what criteria the school uses for admission. Some use a mixture of GPA, test scores, essay, volunteer/work experience, ect. Some use just GPA and test scores. My school uses just pre-req GPA and your HESI test score, with GPA holding 90% of the weight for admittance. The cut-off for my school is almost always around 3.7.

Now I'm really nervous. One of the schools I applied to--the same as the girl I mentioned in my previous post-- it requires a GPA of at least 2.5, a Minimum ACT score of 21, and a list of any volunteer work/community service/certifications/activities/honors/credentials that you have done or received. The other school I applied to requires at least a 2.5 GPA, a minimum 21 ACT score, an essay, & that's it. The first school with the most requirements is notoriously competitive. An average of 370 people applied last year and only 160 were accepted. ? The second school has a reputation of higher acceptance rates. I don't know if it's as competitive as the first.

My GPA was a little over 3.7. My school (a state university with a BSN program) uses GPA to determine acceptance, contingent on meeting all the other criteria. I believe I heard that the lowest admitted GPA generally is around a 3.4. Usually about 150 people apply and about 75 are accepted.

I've completed 1 semester of 4 so far with a 4.0. I have my eye on CRNA school in the future!!!
