What classes did you pair with A&P I (Anatomy)?

I'm seeking the advice of those who've done it before me. What courses and how many did you take with A&P I. I don't work and wanted to really get a chunk of credits out of the way, what do you suggest? I know I have to take a pre-calc class in spring as well as a&p (which should be okay, I'm pretty comfortable math and scored the top rated professor!)

Do you think I could add another science? or maybe 2 other humanities classes like speech and health? I know a&p is mostly memorization so I already started memorizing the musculo-skelatal system, so I've got all major bones and muscles memorized already.

What was your a&p I semester like, did you have a great teacher? What grade were you able to get? I want to know!

Specializes in Psychiatry.

I'm taking it this spring along with Stats, Human Growth & Development, World History, and possibly retaking Psych 1101, as its a fairly easy class. I don't work at all though, if you work or have kids, 5 classes including A&P might be too much.

I am taking it now (the final is Monday!). Because my last 2 sciences are A & P 1 & 2, I didn't have any other sciences to take with it. I paired it w/ abnormal psych, public speaking & history.

Specializes in Transitional Nursing.

I just finished and I took it with ethics. Worked great for me. A&P is extremely challenging and although its a lot of memorizing I found it was much more than that. I'm not someone who can just memorize information without understanding how something works. I would only take classes you excell at along with it.

"No day but today"

Well my first semester in college I took A&P 1, Composition, Intermediate Algebra, College Forum, and Intro to Software Applications. I ended up dropping A&P, getting a D in Intermediate Algebra, a B in Composition, and a B+ in College Forum and Intro to Software Applications.

Now (after growing as a student and learning what works for me and what doesn't), I'm currently taking A&P with Intermediate Algebra. I took Zumba too, but it doesn't really count. Anyway, from the way things are going as of now, I believe I'll finish the semester with an A- in A&P and an A in math. And I got a P in Zumba.

Hey everyone! Thanks soo very much for the replies.

My A&P course is a 4cr (Lab+lecture) but the lab is done with the lecture (I don't have to schedule a separate lab). I'm not sure if that's par for the course or not. I also just signed up and got a professor that's rated 4.9 on rate my professor! She's apparently THE A&P teacher to get!

Also I have no kids and only work about 6 hours a week as a demonstration rep for a vegan food company. So very easy work.

I am so appreciative of the input and by all means keep the responses coming!

I worked full time when I started pre nursing, so I only took 2 classes per semester. I paired A&P 1 with English 111. It worked well for me. 2 is more intense and too more study time, so you may want to consider keeping your work load a little lighter for that semester and taking on a bit more with 1, especially if you already have much of the musculoskeletal systems memorized. The muscles were fine for me, but I hated the bone practical! Good luck!

Specializes in public health, women's health, reproductive health.

I took A&P I (Lecture and Lab) with Human Growth and Development.

I took A&P I (with lab), Micro (with lab) & Psych 101 last fall. I also worked full time and I didn't see people outside of school/work for almost the whole semester. It was pretty tough but I made it though with decent grades. I'm sure that if I worked limited hours I would have done better and had less stress. You should do fine with 2 science classes. That's awesome that you got a good professor! I ended up with a nice professor but it was hard for me to learn from his old school, no PowerPoint lecture. I took A&P II with a different professor who utilized technology much more and I felt like I learned more.

I was a ABSN student so I only had to take the prereqs I didnt get from my first degree. I took:

A&P I

Psyc 101

Bio Stats

Chem 100

I didn't find it terribly difficult but you cannot get behind because it would be impossible to catch up.

Looking back, I took A&P 1 with developmental psychology, composition 2, and middle east history and culture in fall 2011. Not a bad semester, ended with a 3.513 GPA.

I paired with A&P 1 the complementary lab, microbiology and the lab for it as well, a 300 level linguistics course and human nutrition. it was an intense semester!! glad I'm finished with it :)

Specializes in home health, developmental disabilities.

I took API and algebra together. I also took Micro and A&PII in the same semester. My micro professors were ok but tests were HARD. I found A&P to be easier once I got the hang of it. My teacher was tough but fair. Even though they are both very demanding there are benefits of taking them concurrently. There is some overlap of material. You will have some "aha! I remember that from AP lecture!" When you are in micro and vice versa. You said u are not working I'd say add a humanities if you're really ambitious too! I was working 4 to 5 nights a week and pulled B's in both. If I wasn't working I'm sure I'd have A's. If you are driven, which from reading ur posts I think u are, you will be very successful!
