Waiting to set up the interview!

I attended an info session today, and decided that since I already had all of my paperwork (certified background, physical, blah blah blah) I would go ahead and take the entrance exam instead of waiting and psyching myself up for it.

My theory worked, I passed it with fly colors (THANK GOODNESS) now I have to wait for someone from administration to call me to set up my interview, and also to set up a meeting with financial aide.

Anyone have any interview tips? I've never been to a nursing school interview before so I have no idea what to expect. I really REALLY want to be accepted into this school- I'm just terrified of the next step!

My school doesn't do interviews (they probably should!) But way to go on the entrance exam! Good luck to you both! :up:

Congrats on your test scores! I did my interview a while back...I was just like you, I had NO idea what to expect. All they told us was to dress like it was a job interview (which I highly recommend). I honestly thought it was going to be kind of laid back...not the case. I met with the director of the program! I was so not prepared for this. She was pretty nice, but also very firm. She asked me things like "detail a time when communication broke down and what you did to restore it" and asked me if I was better in a team setting or working alone... more random questions like the first one. I had to just wing it! I didn't have any answers thought up for the questions so I tried my best to come up with something meaningful, and quickly but without saying "um" or "I don't know". I did get her to laugh a couple of times, so I hope that is good! Also, after they tell you about the program and about their selves, they will most likely ask you if you have any questions for them. My advice is to come up and at least one question about the program AND one personal question for the interviewer. I will find out if I get accepted in November...the wait is excruciating! :arghh: Good luck to you guys!!!

I'm so jealous your school does interviews. I had to explain why I should be accepted in under 200 words.

I also had to write an essay on why I felt I belonged in this program, so I've got some answers ready if a question like that comes up- and I've been lurking on the school website for information so I have a little background information as well as some real questions- now as long as I don't panic on Tuesday I'll be good!

I'm sorry if this comes up weird as my computer went haywire and I am on my phone... I'm glad you are more prepared than I was! I will most definitely be on here and super excited if I get accepted in November :) Don't panic...I'm sure you'll do just fine!

I WAS ACCEPTED!!! :)

The interview was quick and painless, and while I was sitting in a meeting with financial aide, my admissions rep e-mailed me a letter of congratulations on being accepted into the program!!

Questions from my interview were somewhere along the lines of:

What is your biggest strength, what is your biggest weakness? Why?

What do you think it takes to be a good nurse?

You have a problem with a fellow student/instructor/patient, what steps do you take to resolve it?

What is your reason for wanting to attend this school? Do you plan to further your education?

The majority of my interview was the rep going over how fast paced the course is and making sure I understood the time frames and the bridge to BSN info. All in all, it was not scary at all (once I sat down of course, before then I was shaking in the lobby like a mad woman :nailbiting:) I just made a point to open up and laugh a little. I didn't want to give her the answer I thought she would want to hear, so I made a point to make sure that my answers were as truthful and honest as possible- and like I said, I had my acceptance before I walked out the door!
