I am a nervous wreck waiting on whether or not I am accepted to my school's nursing program for this fall 2013, and thought that starting this thread may be able to keep myself and others company......:nailbiting:....Please feel free to write anything while we wait.

Same! I applied to 3 schools. My next deadline is Feb 1st and for my third school, it's march 15th. The stress of getting everything in on time is overwhelming.

It is also stressful when the school and nursingCAS tell me two different things. NursingCAS told me to resend my transcript, because I had put my Fall grades on it (they may have received my transcript prior to all Fall grades being posted I believe). But my nursing school is saying we are not required to resend a transcript if we put our fall grades on our application (if they were in-progress prior to them receiving the transcript) as long as they have already received one from the institute. I went ahead and sent another transcript last week, but that one may arrive after the deadline even though they already have a transcript from my institution received a while back.

Does anyone know when your application is considered complete? I have already received an email from the nursing school about them receiving my application and hesi scores. (although the application takes 5 weeks to be verified by nursingCAS)

This, along with schoolwork, is so stressful. Hope we all do well! Good luck!

I have been waiting to hear back from 8 different schools. Yesterday morning started out with a high because I heard back from one school inviting me to an interview (2nd degree BSN Program) but then a few hours later got a rejection letter from one of the master's programs. This whole process is emotionally draining because you want to be happy for the other applicants that you've met on the threads, but then you find yourself doubting yourself when you haven't been accepted or invited for interviews yet. Please tell me I am not the only one feeling this way??!! I just really want to know where I am going to end up because the faster I get in, the closer I am of fulfilling my goal to be a Nurse Practitioner!!! ;):):sarcastic::cool::wideyed:

I definitely have had to streamline everything with 6 kids, job and school. I am applying to an ABSN and all my eggs are in one basket. I keep telling myself that if I don't get in, it's all in God's timing. However, this is easier said than lived at times. Our plan for school is a husband who will become Mr. Mom once I begin. As of next year, my two youngest will begin Kindergarten and my husband is a teacher. This gives him the same schedule as the kids. If I don't get in, I will have to wait for next application cycle and save money.

Ooh, ooh, I'm in this group too! Haha, I'm waiting to hear back from the one and only program I applied to. Application deadlines were January 15, I should hear back by March 1, and the program starts at the end of the May. I feel for everyone who has to wait until April or May - I am freaking out at the prospect of waiting just another month!

What's everyone doing to keep busy? I should be taking BSN pre-reqs (two more to go) just in case the AA program doesn't accept me. Hopefully that won't be an issue, as my GPA and admissions test score were luckily pretty competitive. I am taking voice lessons for the sake of continuing to learn, saving like crazy for a new car that might actually last me through school, and hunting down scholarships.

Same! I just finished my next application (deadline feb 1). So relieved. Now it's just waiting for verification and the supplemental application.

I'm just doing more schoolwork at school in the meantime (My backup plan is to finish my degree for Nutrition/Kinesiology and I'm also currently looking for possible volunteering at a local hospital.)

I'm taking classes towards the BSN while I'm waiting to find out if I'm accepted (Statistics & Chem). I'm also completing my phlebotomy externship at the hospital. It's great being in the hospital, drawing blood on inpatients & outpatients. I'm learning a lot and making some great future contacts.

I'm with you all. It's such a long time!!! Where is everyone from? I'm in upstate New York (Albany area).

Go SopranoKris! That's some good experience right there.

Mandilee, I am in central Maryland, right between Baltimore and D.C.

The waiting game is rough! I've been there. I applied to several nursing programs. I was denied admission to the first few that I heard from. The last one I was waiting to hear back from accepted me! I had to wait almost two months to receive that letter in the mail, but it was so exciting when I did. I read it over and over. I am now in my 3rd semester of a traditional BSN program. I will graduate in May 2014. Nursing school is very challenging, yet so rewarding. I love it! As hard as it is to do, try not to stress. Keep yourself busy in the meantime so you don't dwell on the "what-ifs". If you don't get it, dust yourself off, reconfigure your "game plan" and try again! If you do, congratulations and prepare for the journey! I hope you all get in! Best of luck!

How do you do it? I have 1 daughter and I feel soo overwhelmed and unorganized. At times I feel like I am such a bad mom, because I hardly have play time with her and when I do have a little time I feel so tired or too lazy to do anything....any tips?

I am playing the waiting game too! I just interviewed with my top choice nursing school! The interview went well and I had a heart to heart moment with the ladies. The committee was talking to me as if I would indeed be accepted...but idk that may be my optimism kicking in as well ? I will find out in two weeks- it feels more like two years!!! What can I do to make the time go by? I downloaded a bunch of nursing apps and I'm working, but that's not enough. I reallyyyy want this and I reallyyyy only have maybe an ounce of patience left haha

Someone please reply and tell me a you're experience waiting to hear from admissions?

Did anyone focus their energy on some quirky fun hobby or small project to make the time go by? Lol give me suggestions to pass the time ?

Thank you! Best of luck to all of you!!!?

Tortia1, I have a one year old foster son who we will be moving to his forever home before summer. He is medically fragile and we just completed surgery, so he is very stable. My husband is amazing and helps in everything at home. I think that his dedication to my dream career is what makes this possible. Whenever I want to quit cause it's 11:00pm and I'm exhausted, he sits beside me and starts quizzing me. So, I guess it's only fair to say that I can have 6 kids, a part-time job and still be sane because my husband is very atypical when it comes to family. He is incredibly involved and picks up the slack when I can't.

But here are some tips that have helped me;

*Prepare everything for the day, the night before. Lunches packed, clothes laid out, etc.

*Plan a menu and write it down each week. This has saved me a ton of time and last minute grocery store runs or fast food binging.

*Take time to exercise!!! I know that sounds nuts, but I run 20 plus miles a week as a way to stay sane and to keep from dragging from exhaustion.

*Talk to your kids about your classes and school. My kids are "helping" mom get great grades! When I get an 'A', they hear about it and I tell them that together we got an 'A'. This helps them feel a part of it and also they like to give me tips on how to study.
