USF in San Francisco: Applied? Considering?

Hello!

Is any one applying or considering this university. I am applying in October for Spring 2010! I can't wait for October to be here because I am anxious for a notification letter, or should I say "acceptance letter". Trying to think positive!

Hello! I'm also considering applying to USF. I'm still debating it. I got waitlisted for Samuel Merritt for this fall 2009 entry, so if I happen to get in to that I'll take it in a heart beat.

Are there really only four prerequisites for USF?! That must mean it's a 3-year program? The website is pretty vague on prerequisite coursework, so any information would be awesome if you know it (including prerequisite courses with the required amount of semester units per course).

I have all prerequisites completed for basically every other school in the state, but I'm situated here in the bay, so I'd really like to stay local!

UCSF MENP Program - if that is what you are referring to requires an undergraduate degree, and stats, physio and anatomy and the GRE. It is s 3 year degree leading to an NP. From what I understand a 4.0 will not get you in the door - you need to be well rounded, lots of relative experience in community, particularly in marginalized settings. They are looking for folks with life experience that has drawn them to being an NP - more as a calling I think then a profession.
I am applying myself with a wack load of the above but not holding my breathe! My back ups are two Canadian Universities who likewise require an undergraduate degree (or close to). University of Toronto, a two year program leading to a Bachelor degree in nursing, and reputed to be one of the better schools in the world, and University of British Columbia - even at foreign students fees they are more competitive then some here - and hey, you get to live in Canada, land of socialized medicine. Nice to be where a government believes in caring for its people!

The thread is about USF (University of San Francisco) which is a private university not UCSF (University of California San Francisco) which is public but the #2 school in the nation for a Masters in Nursing. UCSF is right after Unversity of Washington which is the #1 school in the nation.

Actually the only prereq's you need are the four:

Micro
Anatomy
Physio
Psy

Depending on whether you have other transferable (university level) course will determine whether you need to turn in high school transcripts and scores.

Yes, it is a three year program but if you look up NCLEX scores, USF has one of the highest in the State of California for Undergrad RN's.

The average GPA is 3.4-3.5 but min 3.0 to apply in both cumulative and the four prereqs

Of course it's not my first choice (housing, expense, etc.), but at this point you've got to take what you can get.

I think we may be talking about 2 different degrees. For the MSN you need the 32 pre-reqs I posted above which can also be found here:

http://www.usfca.edu/nursing/program...nurse_cnl.html

For their BSN program you only need to 4 pre-reqs. However I couldn't imagine doing their BSN over their MSN as both are 6 semesters.
