Two year or four year nursing school

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello , I'm in the pre clinical phase of the nursing program at my school ( which is an associate program). I plan to take the TEAS in January 2018 and hopefully I get into my current school's clinical phase of the nursing program .

I used to attend nursing school in the Caribbean and was almost finished but had to move to the United States . I don't know which was worse, the hell you have to go through to get into a nursing program in NY or the fact that this school only took like 3 of my classes from back home.

I desperately want to get into a BSN program but I fear I may not be able to afford it even with aid. I really don't want to do an associate degree because I intend to go as far as Master's.

I was looking at St Francis and LIU but read some not so nice reviews about these schools.

Is there any advice as to whether to just go through with the Associate and then do an RN to BSN program or are there any other good schools outside of CUNY in NY that are not very expensive.

You said yourself, you may not even be able to afford BSN programs given aid as well. So, the cheapest route is for you to go ASN. And then do a bridge program RN-BSN.

The ADN then RN to BSN is the cheapest option if you go to a state community college. However, you won't know if you can afford a 4 year BSN school until you apply and get your financial aid package from the individual school. Fill out the FAFSA and apply to good schools and see what they can offer you. Even a school like Columbia might be affordable for you. Good luck.
