Teas V Math

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

hello i am wondering if anyone who has taken the Teas V exam can provide me with any tips for the math section. Any books you suggest i use to study?

Use the ATI study guide. I was so scared of the math but it ended up being my second highest section(93%). I studied for exactly one month before I took the teas around 3 weeks ago. I also used the McGraw-Hill Nursing Entrance Exam Book too. That was emailed to me in PDF format from a member here. But the ATI study guide is a great investment.

Know mostly fractions, decimals, and percentages. Nothing to hard. It's all middle school stuff. I can't even believe I was losing sleep over this section.lol

Anyway, the only thing is YOU MUST WATCH YOUR TIME. So many people complain about running out of time on this test. I almost did too. The key is that you must not work just quickly, but smart too. Instead of just totally solving the problem just solve it to the point that you can figure out the answer by looking at the choices. Hope that makes sense. They design the test in a way where its like they don't expect you to work out every problem. Some of the problems can be solved by just looking at it and thinking critically. For example .02 x .04

A. 0.08 B. .0008 C. .008 D. 0.8

You know the answer is B because you just add the decimal spots(there are 4 total). But if you see, they all look the same basically, so why would you need to work that out?

Just don't do that trick with dividing decimals... It just doesn't work the same. I dont why..

Just study the TEAS book, go on khanacademy.org, Youtube, if you have the money take the online practice test under real conditions) and see how you do. Look up practice drills on the internet. And you should be more than fine. Just know your strategy for working certain problems before you take the test.

I just used the ati book. It covers all of the basic concepts you'll need to know. Just never use a calculator when you practice! You won't get one on the exam.

I'm wondering if anyone took the TEAS reading and math parts only? at lincoln tech? how were they?

I have been practicing by using this website:

but the math is alot of geometry.
