The ATI book

Version V - ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS V) Study Manual

may get it cheaper on other websites like amazon

Might try your local library too,I found a lot of books for nursing there.

Hi!

I used the official ATI TEAS V Study guide, and the McGraw Hill Study guide with practice tests. I found that the ATI book most closely followed the format of the actual test, but that the McGraw Hill book supplemented the ATI study guide's practice tests VERY WELL. I was actually really glad that I used both instead of just the ATI book, because the practice questions in the McGraw Hill book were harder than those in the back of the ATI study guide; the harder practice tests prepared me more for the the caliber of questions on the actual TEAS test.

This is what I found:

The information in the ATI study guide was the most all-encompassing, and the most directly related to the material covered on the exam. The format definitely annoyed me every now and then, because it seemed to jump back and forth quite a bit, but it's worth it because the material prepares you very well for the exam. The practice tests were almost IDENTICALLY formatted to the actual exam too, which I felt prepared me very well.

A friend of mine actually sent me the McGraw Hill book because he said he liked the practices better because they were harder...and he was RIGHT. They were definitely harder, and covered some material not even in the ATI book, and a lot of that material actually showed up on the actual TEAS V exam. I was SO glad I went thru both books.

I took a total of 4 practices tests before I took the real exam, and spent a month studying (I am also returning to school after having completed my first degree in 2007, so it had been a while since I had seen any of the math or science. I'm SO glad I reviewed everything that much).

But I would definitely recommend both of those books. Each fills in the holes the other has, and in the end, I felt very prepared for the exam. (I scored an 86, and a 73 was needed for my program, so I was pretty happy).

I just took the TEAS V a few days ago , and I did pretty well. I used the Mcgraw hill book.

One piece of advice I would give you is to work the math problems without a calculator. Even though we were told we would be allowed to use calculators on the test, when we got to the test we were not allowed to. I know that threw a lot of people in the group I was with.

I was ok without a calculator; it just took a lot longer to do the problems, so I finished the math section with only 2 minutes to spare.

That's what stresses me out. I'm terrible at math & studying using the book but I'm soo afraid to run out of time! >.

Don't worry too much. The math wasn't hard. As long as you understand basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division you will be fine. I just had to remind myself to stay calm and work each problem one step at a time.

Definitely test yourself at home when taking practice tests at home. I found the math part fairly easy but I underestimated the time given and ran out in the last question :/

I still did fine though

glad to know the math is fairly easy...I am NOT a mathy person.....and that is the part that has me stressed....I'm ready to take it and get it out of the way lol but then again I want to study more

I used the ATI book and online tests. I really didn't study, but I think taking the online practice test helped a LOT. I got 80% on the practice test and 88.7% on the actual. The online practice test results detailed what specifically to study in the book, but I only needed 62% so really it just served to set my mind at ease.

Thank you all :)
