TEAS Scores

My adjusted individual total score is 72.9%
Math adj. ind. score 51.1%
Science adj. ind. score 86.7%
How bad is this? Someone just told me they'd never seen someone get into a nursing program with a math score so low. (I ran out of time. )

Hi darrarizer, you did better than I did. I did not complete most of the sections, I ran out of time. Maths, I think is was easy, maybe because I like maths. English/Reading, I struggled in this area, because english is my 2nd lang. You did pretty good in the Science. I found the science difficult. I received good grades for all my pre-reqs sciences. It was sad that I could not apply the concepts on the teas test. Most programs seems to look at the scores for the maths & science only, while some require certain scores for each tested area. Which means you can not offset the score if you scored low in another area. I think it all depends on the school. Inquiry from your school. You maybe lucky...just never know. Good Luck!

Good luck to you also! I know my school only looks at science and math. From what i've read I did alright in the science portion, as you said. I really don't want to retake the test even though my math score is obviously cruddy because I don't want to do better in math and have my science score drop, which is what I imagine will happen. Well, thank you for your input and, once again, good luck!

You have to take the TEAS again and improve your score!! IF your just going to community college where they only require a 67% and its a lottery fine, but if you are planning on applying to other schools you really need to get a better score. Most schools only look at your adjusted total score. The math is the worst on the TEAS, you need to spend the most 1.5 min per question. I took the TEAS twice, even though I really did not want to also, but my score improved. The questions will be exactly theh same just in a different order. Most people I know take the TEAS multiple times to get into the 90's. Schools except people based on GPA and TEAS score so to be competitive I would really recommend taking it again.

Good Luck

If I don't get in I will take the test again (and this time answer the math questions I know first)! I think it's terrible that you can only take the test twice and your final grade, lower or not, sticks. I'm not sure if it's twice ever or twice/year but it's something like that for TCC.
Thanks for responding!

Your grades are ok except for the maths. I would take it over and spend more time on the maths problems in the study guide and McGraw Hill book. Did you take an online practice exam before. That should be of some help. My maths score turned out to be the worst. I had 77.8 but I have to stick with it, my school only allows you to take it once per application period.

hey u did pretty good. i did ok on the english and math portion. i did horrible on the science at 63%... im going to retake it again for the 3rd time tomorrow to try to improve the science. over all my score was ok but still not high enough competively, i think. but i think you go retake it. u will do alot better this time around since you'll have an idea of what to expect...

Yeah, I didn't get the score I was expecting. I ranked in the 97th percentile for my program with a 82.9 score. My school uses a point system and you can only take it once per application period, so no retakes for me.

Hi there!

Honestly, it varies from program to program. Some programs don't even look at the individual scores students received on single sections, rather they just look at the adjusted individual score. All the nursing programs I applied to were that way (just looked at your overall score) & the highest cut score required was pretty low = 68%. So don't be discouraged, it really just depends.

Best wishes to you!
