TEAS, HESI, NET nursing entrance exams

i started at a school that did not require entrance exams. but they made us take the teas after starting and told us NOT to study because they wanted us to see where we stood in our ability when we first entered the program...

so my scores range from 60.0 to 92.5 in the 4 categories with a total score combined of 78.8....not good enough for entry into competitive programs now that i left that program and i am applying to other programs...

i also took the hesi when i applied at another school, but did not have time to study and still got a 94%...

some schools require the teas and some the hesi and some the net exams...

can i take the teas, net, hesi as many times as i need to at different schools until i get into a school?

please support your answer with a fact link to the site where you received your info.

if you reply with personal opinion please tell us who gave you that info so hopefully it can be relied upon or confirmed...
thanks!

I am in Georgia. I am applying to three different schools. As I did my research on more than those three, yes some required hesi, net, hobet, or teas. N. GA stated on the nursing section of the website that the teas can be taken twice but at least six weeks apart. Gordon College allows twice in a year. Another school, which I did not choose, stated you can only take it three times. I tried to stick to schools that required the same test. The test information should be on the website in the nursing application information or curriculum section. It is always good just to call the school, state your name, and asked the question or questions. If they have a coordinator in the nursing dept. that always answer the phone, it helps to make them remember you. It helped me at a school I will not name. Good luck!

Every school's requirements are different. Check the requirements for each school, and follow-up with phone calls if you have any questions. One school I applied to would only let you take the exam (HESI) twice. Another school just wanted your most recent scores on the NET. I do believe the people who make up the NET also have a restriction on how quickly you can re-take that exam. I remember seeing that somewhere in the letter I got from them.

Bottom line: read the website and/or brochure for each school and contact them to verify what their requirements and restrictions are.

Below is a very resourceful site for TEAS and many other exams. Hopefully it helps you!

And be careful with the differences between those tests. The NET and HOBET are related, while the HESI and TEAS are different beasts altogether. And it's ridiculous, in my opinion, that some people say they don't need to study at all for these. Unless you're doing math related work or are a regular writer, chances are you're not keeping your math or writing. These skills erode.

Hello,

I took the HESI test last year however failed the Vocabulary section by 4 points therefore need to retake. I learned recently that it is no longer the HESI test but the TEAS Exam. My question is, is the test similar to the HESI? Shoud I purchase the TEAS manual? I know I will do well; if anyone has advise on how I should go about this exam please share.
