I just read your post. You have a heavy course load! I did too when I was taking prerequisites. (I'll be finished at the end of this semester.) I just wanted to mention since you still have time -- schools put more stock in those prerequisite grades than they like to admit to prospective students. They may or may not stress it when you first inquire, but those prerequisite grades seem to count more than almost anything else in admissions decisions.

... I'm sure you probably already know, but I found myself surprised and kind of caught off guard.

Good luck!
Yes, both schools use a selective process for admission and are clear upfront that GPA is weighted heavily (one school gave me the actual %) and tell you what the last class that was selected GPA average. Fortunately, (I think!) I was laid off in April and have not found work...so I've made school my job, therefore "pay" = getting an "A"! It's still stressful but I'm managing it.

Thanks for the thoughts...all encouragement is welcome. Hoping you get into the program you want!!

Sharon

New to the board. 36 year old career changer with advanced degrees but now it's time to follow my heart. Will be taking my only 2 remaining prereqs in January (A&PII and Intro Socio) with hopes of starting at FSCJ in Fall 2010. Haven't decided on day or evening/weekends yet. Trying to still figure out the details. Thankful for a wonderfully supportive hubby.

Im anxiously awaiting class registration day at my school due to hearing that the A & P classes fill up extremely quick. Since Im a new student to the school, I have to wait 4 weeks after the current students get their picks of classes first. If I dont get into the a * p next semester and a & p 2 in the summer, I will not be able to apply for the nursing program in the fall of 10. Wish me luck!

I am not sure if I already posted over the summer (I don't think I did!) but here goes:

This semester I am retaking a couple of pre reqs after slacking off last spring
APHY 102, luckily I am pulling a B right now and an A is still possible!
English Comp

Next semester:
retaking APHY 101 to bump my B to an A
CNA prep
Technical Writing
Dosage Calc

Summer:
Micro
Lifespan Development

I go to a community college where its pretty much expected that you have all As in your pre reqs in order to be admitted into the nursing program. Otherwise I would be happy with a B in 101!

I am applying by April 1st so I am keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well. If I can manage an A in 102 this semester then all should be good! Now...to bring that stupid TEAS score up 10 points to a 95

I'm so glad to see this thread. I'm from Florida but in Arkansas for school. I will be applying for the ADN progam at the University of Arkansas at Ft.Smith. I also want to apply to the bachelors but am unsure if I will have enough pre-reqs completed to apply.

My school does not require any pre-reqs for the ADN program but is very competetive so if you don't have g.e classes done your shot at getting in is much lower. The ranking system is 25% gpa 75% PAX RN exam. So yeah I have A LOT riding on that exam!

I wish everybody the best of luck.
