Statistics online

Has anyone taken statistics online? I am wanting to take it online next semester, but have heard from others that it is not a good class to take online. Anyone have anything good or bad to say about taking it online versus taking it in the classroom? Thanks for any input!

I'm taking it online now. I was pretty freaked out about it, but so far it isn't so bad. I mean, it's still pretty early and things can get a lot harder as the semester goes on... but there is always tutorting help and khans academy if I need it. But so far it has been totally doable, just sloooow.

Thanks everyone for the advice! I think I'm going to take it online, but I'm going to take enough hours to where if I need to drop it I can without dropping below full time status and messing up my financial aid.

It's all about what you put into it. If you lack self discipline, don't take it online. Regardless of where you take it, Stats is a very time consuming class. I disagree with people saying you will be teaching yourself, or you'll be learning math by reading it. Online classes these days often provide video lessons, and the instructor is always there to explain how to do something if you get stuck. Math is my worst subject, and I still earned an A in online stats. So can you! Just put forth the effort, and research the teachers on ratemyprofessor before you register.

I also took statistics online in a 5-week course. There were 16 chapters to read so about 3-4 a week, we had a weekly 30-40 point test, and 2 projects in where you had to collect data and do various tests and write a short paper on the results. I did not think it was that bad and recommended the class to a few students. Also, I don't think I could sit through a whole semester of statistics, especially now that I look back and saw that I did very well by just reading and looking at the provided power points in 5 weeks.

Also, I don't think statistics needs a lot of mathematical ability... It is just a bunch of formulas that you plug numbers in and use basic math (i.e. PEMDAS) to solve.
