Should I volunteer at my hospital? I'm starting my CNA class for spring semester!

I'm currently going to a technical college in Savannah, GA and trying to get a certificate in Healthcare Assistant. After I get my CNA, I'm going to go for the LPN program and I was trying to figure out different ways to get more experience and be a stronger candidate. The last time I volunteered at the hospital was playing video games with kids at a children's hospital. My ultimate goal is to become a RN, I currently work full time in retail and I wanted to stay away from student loans as possible.

The hospital won't be giving you any extensive medical tasks to do while volunteering but it wouldn't help to volunteer there, establish relationships with the people/health career faculty and put it on your résumé.

At the hospital I currently work at we have a position in the ER that is called a Student Health Intern. They basically do simple CNA tasks (Vital signs and what not), but they stand in for most procedures and codes just so that they can gain some experience. The Student Health Interns are CNA students, LPN students, RN/BSN students, MD students and pretty much any other health field related job. Some come in with no experience at all, they just want to see what the medical field is like.
