Should I still pursue Nursing as a career even if I'm not excellent in math?

To start, I am great in science! I love science. This is my second semester in college. I have an A in A&P I and the lab and I have a B in Biology and an A in that lab. Science is very interesting and I can engage in it. However, math has always been my weakness. I mean I can do basic math like add and subtract however functions and equations tend to confuse and frustrate me. I'm in intermediate algebra now and its ok but I take College Algebra in the fall. I'm so scared. I really need to pass College Algebra. But first I need to pass Intermediate! I have a C in the class now. I know in nursing school I will have to do conversions and all that and know the proper dosages. I am just really intimidated. I know that I will have to take pharmacology in nursing school and that is math. I do not know what to do!!! Should I change majors? Thoughts?

This is very helpful and inspirational

As a nurse, the math you will need is division and multiplication. If you break down those huge, long calculations, it's just a long row of fractions, and really, that's just division and multiplication. I am a total math geek. Just love it. Aced college algebra and then, took honors college algebra for fun (yes, I said it). But, I have used NONE of it in nursing school. The conversions you do in chemistry are pretty much all drug calculations are.

Don't worry. You'll be just fine!

yes, you certainly should!

This post has given me great hope. I shy away from Nursing about 13 years ago because I repeated A&P twice. I went into Social Work thinking that I wasn't strong enough in Math and Sciences to do Nursing. Now I realized that God was leading me to be ready for Nursing at a time like now. My husband got sick in 2013 and then my son in 2014 . As I'm dealing and coping with their illnesses, I keep thinking that I'm ready to enter the nursing career now. I've always been scared of Math and Sciences and thats the reason I gave up being a Nursing major in the past, but the Lord keeps putting me in the paths of Nursing. I did my BSW internship at a Hospital, my first job was at Hospital, and I worked 12 years at a Healthcare agency, and recently worked at a Nursing Home. I truly discovered my love for Nursing when I worked at the nursing home. What advice do you nurses have for me? I spoke to one of my Professors who told me not to pursue nursing because of my weaknesses in Math and Science. What should I do? I'm having a hard time finding a job in my field now because I don't have my licensure as an MSW.
