You guys ------life is scary but whats worse is never knowing what you could of accomplished. Stop coming up with the bad. Heres the good. every good grade will give you confidence. Its amazing the appreciation people in clinical give you. Your friends and relatives will admire you and ask YOU for advise and go on about you to their friends. This is your chance to make a difference to people you dont even know. I tell my son he's 10 YOU CAN DO THIS he suprises himself. Remember there is no such thing as something for nothing. work hard youll do it. yes problems happen yes sometimes the things we do seem scary6 but THE COOL THING ABOUT nursing school is you start out with small and work up. They dont give you things you cant handle and if that comes up say so. I had to stop 2 times in nursing school because of my horribly painful divorce and money, but I did it and I love being a nurse. GOOD LUCK LOOK FOR THE POSITIVE

i really like that post above mine.. Its inspiring. I have a lot of fears as many people who posted on this thread, which is a great thread by the way. But here are some of my worst ones:

1.) Messing up on a patient....whether im following the wrong procedure, or doing something wrong....or whatever.

2.) Having a patient that doesnt like me.

3.) Asking too many questions. Im the type where i have ocd so i as a lot of questions...and i dont know if my supervisor will like that. Unless i am the supervisor?!

4.) of course, messing up in nursing school and failing.

    God be with us all.

So just like everyone I am afraid of money, failing, looking dumb, leaving my almost 6 figure corporate job and then failing out of school... same thing...

Then I remember how I got here. My sister was super smart in high school, I was average. I was told by my parents that I was not "smart enough" to go to college. I got full ride scholarships on my own for undergrad and worked as an RA. My scholarships were renewable each year. Each summer I would work 3 jobs not knowing if I was going back if the scholarship did not come through. I made it just fine - in 4 years. BS in Business. I went back, got a masters, and still wonder if I am "smart enough" I can still hear them telling me in the back of my head "you are not smart enough".

Now as I look forward I think - I did that all when I was 18, and did just fine. So I need to relax, have fun, and know that no matter what - I have overcome this before, and will do it again. I got through the pre-reqs - just like all of you and we can all do it.

Funny enough, I went back and asked them for money for school (since they paid for my sister and not me) and they told me that if I was smarter, I would have chosen the right career the first time I went to school.

Well, if they ever need help that requires a nurse.......

i fear that i will never pass my classes and my lpn pre-entrance exam. that i will not be able to handle all the gross stuff that comes with being a nurse. i fear that once i get thru school(if i ever get thru) that i'll do something wrong and really hurt someone not meaning to if not worse.i fear that i won't be quick enough doing the stuff that you have to do when being a nurse.i'm not the quickest person in the world. well there are other things that i fear but if i put anymore i'll be writing a book.
