Hi all, I am not new to this forum but have not posted in awhile. I have a BS Healthcare Administration and am currently working on my MS in Healthcare Administration/Business Adminstration. I am intrested in apply to Emory and I am also look at Catholic University in DC. I am intrested in knowing any information that anybody has to give on me taking this route as a second career. I have a three year old son and am currently employed at at hospital in DC. However, my concerns lies in the prereqs as well. My undergrad did not entail too many science classes.

Hi

I live in DC too and am going to apply to Catholic, Marymount and U of MD's accelerated BSN programs. My undergrad is in psych so I didn't get much more than general bio with my degree. I am currently taking my pre-reqs at Northern VA Community College in Alexandria and have had good luck there. I am currently taking A&P 1 and I would say that over 50% of my class are people going back to school for a second career.

Good luck to you, let me know if you have anymore questions!

Hello Shemak,

Welcome back to the forum. :)

There are many of us second degree people in the pre-student nurse forum thread titled, "Direct entry programs-how hard to get in?" You might want to take a look at it, it has grown kinda long though.

In the information session for the program I am trying for there were several people there with MBAs and Masters of Public Health and all other areas, this is okay, there are a lot of areas to work with a Masters in Nursing!

Gen

p.s. hope we all get in!

Hi Jess

Thanks for the information. When will you be officially applying to those schools? And How many of the prereqs have you completed. I am thinking about stopping my masters program at UMUC to pursue the prereqs needed to be completed for the NP program. I live in Prince George's County, Maryland and am looking at PG Community College to complete that.
