Sac State Nursing for Spring 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Is anyone here applying in October for Spring 2018 nursing program at Sac State? I know this is the last semester to apply for the older criteria and CSUS will be changing the selection criteria for Fall 2018. What's your gpa? Teas score? points? I haven't taken the teas yet and I'm super nervous.

I'm going to apply! If I calculated my prerequisite GPA correctly, I have a 3.86. I need to make sure I'm converting between quarter and semester units correctly and double check that I have classes that count towards the Written Communication and Critical Thinking prereqs, but I looked over their second-bachelor FAQs and I think everything should be fine. My TEAS score is a 95.3%. Right now I'm at 81 points. If I can squeeze 100 hours of volunteer work by the application deadline I'll get another couple of points. The cutoff last year was a 76 but I feel like it goes up every year so I'm nervous :/

Wow! that TEAS score is awesome! How did you study if you don't mind me asking..

This may not be super helpful so I'm sorry in advance..I work as an SAT/ACT tutor and as an academic tutor for high schoolers. Between those two jobs I pretty much had the Math, Reading, and English and Language sections covered. I used the Mometrix book to study for science. Science was my worst section (I got around a 91%) because it's kind of a crapshoot. The Mometrix book prepared me well for all of the science questions except the ones dealing with A&P. The info from the book is too general for A&P and I would recommend using your notes to study if you've taken the classes already. If not, I would get a textbook and study the different body systems. The issue is not that the questions on the test are super detailed, but that there's so much information they could test you on that it's hard to cover everything. Most of the questions on the test deal with anatomy and physio too, so I would spend a little time reviewing the other science stuff and then the rest of your time on anatomy and physio. I spent one day reviewing the science from the Mometrix book and about an hour each day reviewing my anatomy and physio books. I took two practice tests from the Mometrix book and the questions from Math, Reading, and English and Language are extremely similar to what's on the test, so I think it's a good resource for those sections!

I'm planning on applying with something in the high 80's if i'm not mistaken. I'm pretty certain this is a good spot for me to be sitting in while I apply, but i won't feel comfortable until i get an acceptance or denial letter!

I think you'll definitely get in with 81! But I understand the apprehension; its such a competitive program.

Thank you! I take my Teas test in August and I need above 90.

Have you finished all the prereqs? If so, I think you'll do well as long as you study and prepare in advance.

I finished all except for microbiology. That will be the one i have in-progress.

Hi there, I am applying to Sac state as well this upcoming Spring with a total score of 79. Incredibly nervous to say the least. 3.93 GPA with completion of all prerequisites and corequisites, 88 teas score, and 6 extra optional points... it seems as though everyone else has just a bit of a higher score! This will be my first semester applying as well. We will see! Good luck!!

I will also be applying in the Spring. I will be applying with a 4.0 and a TEAS score of 92%. I will have either 3 or 6 points in the extra points field. So I should be applying with an 88 or a 91. Fingers crossed that is high enough to ensure my acceptance Sac State is my first choice.

I just submitted my application, and now comes the long wait.
