I got my acceptance letter for the Spring 2006 ADN program at my school today!

I am 25, single, and nursing will be my second career after working with computers for almost a decade. RN's seem to run in my family with at least one in each generation and I just inherited the nursing cap of my grandmother and her 50+ year old nursing school pin. Congratulations to everyone else who got their letter! *pops the cork on a bottle of champagne for us*

i didn't really have the ability after high school either - to many bad choices. but thankfully that has all changed! i saw a doctor and found my head (yeah okay i know bad joke).

right now wade picks up most of the bills as i am to stubborn to give up total control! (shhh don't tell him i admit to being stubborn okay). but once the program actually starts i am free to change my situation to however fits in best - even if that means quiting my work.

glad to read you are back on the bandwagon

looking forward to sharing/helping each other out.

I'm starting an ADN program in Spring '06 as well. Just went and took my drug screen and got fingerprinted today. All I have left to do is get my physical done Friday and get a titer test at the health department tomorrow.

I just got out of the military after six years so this will be a second career for me also. I'm still in the reserves, couldn't bring myself to let those retirement points be wasted, my luck I'll probably get called back in the middle of the program.

I hear ya SMK1 on those fees adding up. I will be out of pocket over $2,000 just to start the program but my GI Bill will eventually reimburse me after I start. The total program will be almost $6,000 but that isn't bad considering that is about one semester at the private schools around here. Good Luck everyone

Hopefully starting a LPN Program in May 06. Just tooke my entrance exams and turning in my application this week. This program will probably take about 18 months then to actually get a job in the field and proceed to BSN/RN. I'm anxious, nervous and more excited than I have been in a long time.

Info: Single Male, 28 yrs old, been in the IT world for the past decade and ready to start my life the way it should have been in the first place.

NO! Actually, they were so friendly, polite and laid back I was shocked

I live between Texas and Indiana, but I decided to go to school in Indiana. At the school I went to in Texas they were, well, "uptight". Don't get me wrong, it is a great school, but the disorganization and red tape is a nightmare!

The school I am attending now does not even ask up front for a drug test or background screening! I was floored! In Texas, you pee in a cup for to get in line at the local Starbucks. The director said they are just now getting a vendor to handle this since some of the hospitals say they will start requiring it for students in 2006.

When the director started talking about how you could flunk out or get kicked out, she kept saying how she was sure that would not happen to any of use and if we studied hard, read out handbook and asked for help when we needed it we would all pass! Again had to pick my jaw up of the floor she was so positive.

Thay had all our paperwork and handbooks and information all ready for us. They even had a fantastic Powerpoint presentation THAT ACTUALLY WORKED! She could answer every question in the Q&A!

The cookies, lemonade, coffee and other refreshments were yummy!

I was scared before, but they put me at ease.

we will have our orientation in february. I can't wait to get a first glimpse of how it is going to be becaue although my school has an excellent rep., it is a bit more self-paced than others and and that could be good or bad depending upon how much support they have, and how willing the staff is to help you through difficult information. Anyway congrats to all!
