roll call!!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Looks like they did some work around here!

Lets do a quick roll call to see who's here (pre-nursing students)!

I'm FutureNurse2005, hoping to start the BSCN program in Fall 2005. I'm in Canada and plan to move to California after I graduate! I'm completing my pre-reqs right now (I HATE MATH!! :chuckle ) and will be applying in December of this year.

I'm married with 2 kids and no pets yet!

Nice to meet you all! :)

Hello! I am hoping to get into a nursing program by Fall '05, which means I must apply by Feb. 1. I am concerned because you must have all of the pre-req's finished before the end of the spring semester. The only way I can do this is to take A&PII, Chem II, and Microbiology all in the same semester (spring '05). Am I crazy or what?!? Has anyone ever done this?? Is it an unreal expectation? What are the chances the director of the nursing program will give me special permission to take it in the summer?? I am a little nervous about taking on the challenge, but in order to reach my goals, it could be my only choice. Let me know what you all think!!

It does sound crazy :uhoh3: I do know that in my school, you CAN'T take A&P2 at the same time as Micro - A&P2 is a pre-req for Micro. You may need to look into that. If the school requires that the pre-req's need to be finished by the end of Spring semester, it's highly unlikely that they'll give you an extension :o unfortunately, since there are so many people vying for a space in the program. But maybe you'll get lucky! It never hurts to ask :)

Nice to meet all of you!

Hi, starting ADN in sept. Didn't like micro, just thought I'd throw that out there... I've been home for 16 years w/ the kids. I've slowly gotten all the pre-reqs and electives done while waiting for my youngest to start Kindergarten. I hope I have the memory for this. I can't remember anything I've learned so far. This past fall my father-in-law moved in with us after finding out he had panc/liver cancer. He died in our home. The experience was wild. I think I can do this nursing thing. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.

After 20 years in Information Technology, I am going to make a complete circle and go into healthcare as a nurse. I worked at a hospital when I was very young as a NA. I started my last 2 pre-reqs on Monday. I took my last HB series on Monday. Now, I have all of my shots and I just need to take CPR/First Aid for Adults, Peds, Infant.

I will enter a 12 month accelerated program in Sept. in Philly. This means I will move from Ga to Philly and I don't like cold weather but I can manage anything for a year to reach my goals. I am interested in continuing in anesthetist and nursing education.

I am taking my last 2 pre-reqs in A&P II & Nutrition.

Good point!! I will look into to see if I can take all three classes together.

I just graduated highschool after being homeschooled all my life... I plan on going to a CC in the fall, and apply for the nursing program in fall 05. But, as there's a waiting list (don't know how long it is, though) I'm sure I won't get in then. I'm taking my pre-reqs this fall, and probably Chemistry along with Psychology and Sociology in the spring. Chemistry isn't actually required but I've never taken highschool chemistry, so I figured I'd better take that before I take Microbiology. I'm hoping I won't have to wait too long to get in the nursing program, because I really don't know what I could do while waiting for it..

I plan on getting my ADN and then working for a year or two, and then finishing up my bachelor's. My dad works in a hospital, so I've been able to talk to some nursing friends of his and that's what they suggested. From there, I'm not exactly sure what I want to do. I'd like to go into pediatric nursing or neonatal nursing. I might go into being a NP, or, go into being a Lutheran deaconess... lots of options, and I'm not quite sure now.

If you finish your pre-req's and general education classes and are still on the wait list, it would be a great opportunity to work as a CNA. That would give you some great experience that will help with nursing school, and put you ahead of the game. I wish I had the opportunity to do that, but as a wife and mom to 3 young kids, it's not possible. Best of luck to you!

MY TURN!!!

Hello nurses to be, I am on my final leg of pre-reqs. I am taking A&P 1&2 over because sometimes B's just aren't good enough! I WILL start nursing school Spring 2005 (I'm very optimistic) I am still debating whether I should even bother with applying to a BSN program (It's a private school and $$$$$) but I figure that I will be such a high scholar that scholarships and grants will just be over flowing into my financial aid account...Why not apply!:chuckle

Plan B (and the more realistic one) is to apply to a CC here and just transition the year after. Either way I'm ready to start nursing school and kiss these pre-reqs GOODBYE!!!:kiss

Hello everyone. I'll be starting pre-reqs in the fall at a cc in Charleston. I've been accepted to nursing school for fall of next year. I can't wait to start. Good luck to everyone!

Brandon

I will be starting my pre-reqs this fall. At 33 years I am ready. My homeschooled daughter promised to help me on my study skills. :chuckle

I am so glad that there is a message board for pre-nursing students. I am finishing up some pre-reqs, which aren't many because I already have a bachelor's degree in another major. I am taking 2 classes this summer, A&P I and Human Nutrition. The rest of the classes, about 3 each, for fall and spring will follow. I have faith and have already claimed a spot with the nursing class in August 2005 . I won't have any pre-reqs during nursing school, so thankfully all I will have to focus on is nursing courses and clinicals. I am from Louisiana so if anyone is attending OLHHC, please let me know.

Anyone else struggled like this? I need some encouragement! ALso: found out 2day that hubby has 2 get out of the USAF by one yr! I don't know what 2 do!!!!????!!! I will stay in school, but am uncertain about the future!
