I had a 3.5 I think. Don’t get too hung up on the GPA, apply anyways

Contact Jeannie Tuckness at the main Azusa Campus, she’s the go to person for EENAP

Good luck!

ucdavisstudent -

Have you started at Azusa? How is it going so far? I start in January 2010, so if you have books you may sell, let me know.

Do you have any information on the Kaiser Loan Forgiveness program? How many did they handout this time? did you apply and did they look for clinical/health care experience at all?

Do you like the program so far? Any regrets?

Sorry for the load of questions, I am so anxious to get started as I'm sure you were too...

Thank you!!!
Theresa

So, I wanted to ask everyone about the reputation of Azusa's nursing programs. Good? How good? Pros/Cons? Also, for those who are already in the programs or graduated, what do you think about the programs? I appreciate any feedback!

Thank you.

Question Re: Preparing for Nursing at Azusa Pacific, CA
Hi everyone! Congrats to everyone that has been accepted into APU's EENAP program! I finally sent off my application and all my final documents yesterday for their Spring 2010 San Diego EENAP program. I've heard it's full already. Is this true? If it is will they just decline my acceptance or push me to the next starting time, like Fall 2010? Does anybody have any information about this? Also, how long did it take you to find out if you've been accepted or not once all your documents were in? Sorry for all the questions. I'm extremely anxious to find out! Thank you for any help you can provide me with!

Hi Halla17,

You may want to call the office and see if they can give you more specifics. I'm not sure at all what happens when one semester gets full. Sorry. Hopefully someone will contact you so you have the option to choose another semester. I think it took a couple months for me because I submitted my app right before their November admissions review. I'm not sure when their admissions committee meets again. I was in your shoes when I first applied and just kept calling and contacting BJ until I got more details. I know how you feel! Hang in there, and goodluck!

Hi everyone

Congrats to all who made it. I am planning on applying for their BSN program. I was wondering if anyone applied to their BSN program and what your profile looks like when you applied (if you dont mind me asking)

Congrats again to those who made it.

Hi all,

I got my letter in the mail today for the $1,000 deposit to hold my spot (I start Jan 2010). I guess the program is 4 semesters, and then you take your RN-NCLEX and are awarded the BSN, then you have the option to continue on with your masters.

Also, I heard that the next open semester they are accepting apps for is summer 2011.

rterra3 - my stats: 3.90 undergrad gpa, I was currently taking prereqs during my application, no medical experience just mortgage industry experience. I'm not sure what else you are looking for. My 3 recc letters were from a college classmate, a previous supervisor and a personal reference.

Goodluck,
Theresa

Glad to hear that the Kaiser Loan Forgiveness recipients from 2008 graduations received positions. Not so in 2009 (now).

The Kaiser Loan Forgiveness program is not playing out as anticipated this year. BSN grads with RN are not being offered fulltime going rate positions almost 2 months after graduation. This is quite upsetting to everyone concerned. Be cautious, be wary, ask to talk to recent recipients to see if the program works for them.

I’m a scholarship recipient and am very happy with my placement; I got my first choice dept and am full time. We are paid the going rate, actually a step up on the pay scale because of our BSN. But, not all have been placed in a full time position yet. Some are part time and were told as soon as full time positions open up it will be theirs. If they can snag some OT (what’s considered OT when your part time) they could be sitting pretty. Times have really changed with the economy and yes, even in nursing. There are number of non-Kaiser scholarship recipients still looking for positions, some hospitals are not hiring at all and the positions are not as plentiful as they were 6 months to a year ago. I don’t have any doubts that they will not find positions its just not as easy anymore.

I’m not trying to discourage anyone. I just wanted to clear up the Kaiser info. Nursing is still a great field to be in for a lot of reasons and there are jobs, its just going to take more interviews and applying than it had before the economy took a dive.

When did you get your placement? Yes the program has worked in the past but not now and not in this area. None of the students who graduated in May 2009 in our area and were recipients of the Kaiser program have received fulltime positions at the going rate with benefits. My daughter is one of them and has her BSN and RN (and a BS in Biological Sciences). The current offer by Kaiser (made on Tuesday this week) is to work fulltime through http://www.selaco.com/ at Kaiser for $20 per hour without benefits for up to 12 weeks with no position guarantee. They have told the graduates that they might end up with part-time, per diem, no position or maybe a position by the end of the 12 weeks (no guarantees). Graduation was 5/15/09. This is not hoopla. We have the offer letter in hand. No one is happy from this group. This story is not over. We'll be quite vocal about this in the next couple weeks. We are playing this fairly lowkey at this time.

If that was your outcome after graduation and getting your license how would you respond?
