So...I am a single mom of a 6 year old boy, work full-time in as an Office Manager, and want to become a nurse. I realized that I wanted to become a nurse when my nephew was born - 16 weeks premature, with many health issues. To see the nurses work around the clock in the NICU diligently, helping my nephew to thrive, gave me a sense of great admiration for them. I could see in their faces that weren't just punching the clock and truly wanted my nephew to do well. Even to this day, with his ongoing medical issues - the nurses we meet along the way, are caring and capable.
I have wanted to help people all my life, work well under pressure, and have always had a great interest in medicine. With my boy in school himself, I thought now would be a good time to return as well. I have been researching schools
, studying for the pre-entrance exams, and enrolling my family members into babysitting duty for the past year now.
With that being said, is there any single mom/dads out there working full-time (thankfully my current job is almost stress-free with plenty of downtime), going to school part-time or just doing the juggle and can offer me some sound advice on what to expect and how to handle it?
