Pre-requites are 2 years

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Ive been doing my pre-requisites for about 2 years now, and im at my last class for nursing. Im at a community college and its nursing program is the most competitive in all school. I just took my TEAS and was not happy at all with the results. I feel so stuck at the moment. If i dont get in the program, Ill have to take pointless classes for a semester until I can retake. Any ideas? Im hopeless at the moment. Im also 6 classes away from an associates with just liberal arts. Should I graduate or reapply ...

Well, do you want to be a nurse or do you want a liberal arts degree? It's truly your decision.

Specializes in ICU, Pre-Op, OR, PACU.

You know how parents tell us when we're younger that if you want something bad enough then you can make it happen? Well, for nursing school it takes more than just wanting it, you have to fight for it!

We'd need to know a little more about your situation to tell what's really going on with you right now. How is your GPA and what kind of TEAS test requirements does your school have? It really depends on your area and the schools you plan on trying to get into for you to make your decision.

Do you plan on eventually pursuing a Bachelor's. My back up plan if I do not get in is to take all the non nursing classes that I would need when I pursue my RN to BSN. Things like philosophy, management, etc. Ive looked at the classes that can transfer and that most programs require and thats what ill be working on.

I would suggest not taking pointless classes as that would be a waste of time and money. I would suggest you talk to someone in that nursing department and seeing if you need to re-take any pre-reqs.
