Pre-req ouch

by labchic

Well, I've been taking all my pre-reqs at the local comunnity college but they didn't have the physiology class at night next semester so I signed up for it at one of the nursing colleges intown. So I got my bill today and even thought I knew it was going to be higher I still almost had a heart attack. It was amost 3 times as much. $1400 for one class. How much do you all pay? My summer class at the comunity college was $344 and then $65 for books (I bought them off craigslist).

What! I live in Maine and I am almost done with pre-reqs, Is your course Anatomy & Physiology or just Physiology?. Even though, this goes without saying( rip-off in the Nursing class) same content, same credits warrents you withdraw now; if at all possible, without being penialized. I payed $ 384.00 for A&P lecture I with the Lab I inclusive ( 5 credits) The book I borrowed from a friend. A&P II lecture and lab the same. (5 credits) I realize that you said you could not take the class to your convience to you at this time but if there is such a vast difference in cost, perhaps you could wait until the next semester for the community college to offer it. I know by past experience. I took Math class at the same local college so I could ( Brush up on my math skills) at a cool $ 278.00 and when I finished this course, no credit, because it was a non-credit course, I was told by a friend that at a local high school I would have paid $45 and would have more one-on-one. $1400 ? that is crazy
I am not trying to tell you what to do, and I do not know what state you are in but, in my state of Maine there is a waiting list for two years, after our pre=reqs are done at least, so perhaps you may not need this class at this cost at this time. Good luck to you!! I only have Micro left, Thank the LOrd for that before Nursing school. I am on the wait list as we speak. God bless you and yours.

That is CRAZY!!! :O Can't believe it. My college is about 73 dollars per credit hour and AP is 3 credits... I am too lazy to multiply 73 by 3 now, but you get the picture. :| Good luck in paying that mess. :/

I live in california and the tuition is $20/unit for in state residence at a CC. So i paid $80 for the class and $100 for the book. $1400 is alot. There wasn't anywhere else you could take it? I'm a starving college student myself and I'd hate to see anyone pay $1400 for a single class. My first semester of nursing school at cal state for all my classes will be $1500.

WHATTTTTTT?!!!!!!!!!

I'm at a community college and my physio class cost me less than $200, even with the book. That's a ridiculous rip-off.

I thought it was crazy too, and I thought my comunnity college was a good deal until I saw all of your posts. You guys are getting awesome rates! Except for you guiltysins. lol I'm just afraid that if I sit out I will loose some of what I remember from Anatomy.

I agree w/ labchic. Tuition at my CC is $123/credit hour and that's insanely cheap! The tution at the four year pulic universities and the one private college is about $400/credit hour. I live in middle of no where Ohio too!
