Pre nursing

Okay, This is my second post with this question (The first post was in the wrong section)

I just got my schedule today and here it is: I only go to school Tues. and Thur. from 8:00am-2:00 Pm and then back at 6:00 pm-9:30 pm the same day. Anyone else have a schedule like this??? Also did any of you have to take basic and intermidiate Algebra??? They said I could test out of it the first day of class but I don't think I want too. I think it would be good for me. Also Is college English hard? What does it consist of???? Thanks all of you for your advice.

I'm in class Tue and Thurs from 12-5 and then on Friday from 9-2. When I took a placement exam I got placed in finite mathematics. It's the class before statistics but it's not algebra. Some of the students that didn't get high enough on the placement exam had to take that class.

College english is basically just teaching you how to write a college essay. You learn the whole Chicago-style vs MLA style of papers. It's a lot of writing mainly, you might do some grammar depending on the professor but mainly it's all about writing essays. From persuasive to the how-to kind of essays. If you have a second college english class which most do, they'll make you do a research paper which is like 8+ pages where you have to cite sources and stuff.

In my first quarter of prereqs, I had a weird "split" schedule like that. My first class was ~8AM, and my Micro lab wasn't done until 8 or 9PM.

USE the gap in between your classes. Even though I only lived ~20 minutes form school, I stayed on campus during the break & used that time for studying & homework. Otherwise, it would have been too easy to come home & do nothing during that time.

If you can take the harder math, then do. It will save you time in the long run.

Additionally, check out if some of the easier classes are offered in A or B terms of each semester. Taking classes in half terms will allow you to take more classes without having to go to campus more.

I was starting to think I was the only one..lol.... it is a weird schedule. I had planned on coming home on that time to study but I guess since I live 45 min I will just stay and study so I won't be distracted.

They said the first day of class they give you a test and you have 1 more shot to test out. I am kinda scared to test out though, as I am not sure what the nurse math consist of .

Hi!

I'm not in a schedule like that anymore, but I sure used to be. Almost every semester I was in class two days a week for random hours each day.

As for college English, I think it really depends on your teacher. In our class (online) we wrote a few papers and watched some movies and analyzed them in a general discussion forum. She also made sure we knew MLA (but it wasn't strictly enforced). It was a really great class overall, though. Easy and fun. But I had a friend who had to read Plato in their English class and they had their entire final exam on the book. Some teachers make it easy and fun, some make it ridiculously hard. Make sure you get a good teacher! (Use www.ratemyprofessor.com or Myspace to make sure your teacher has a good rating!)

I was going to take Algebra this summer because a couple of schools needed it (but most of the schools I intended on looking in to didn't need an Algebra class). It was a shame since I had taken advanced algebra in high school and felt I didn't need another course of regular algebra. Anyway, I decided to drop out of it since I'm next up on the waitlist for the school I applied to!
