Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I recently graduated college with a BA in education and my GPA wasn't that great it's a 2.9. I live in NJ and I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions of what path I should take next. I am currently taking my pre req and received an A in a&p 1 and 2. Now I am taking microbio. I have been looking into accelerated programs but I have to work full time so that might be hard. Also I have 120 credits from my previous degree and was wondering would getting my AS in nursing be quicker and then finish classes to get my bsn I'm just so confused!!!

Specializes in Nursing Management.

I have heard of people who complete their ABSN while working but I know it's extremely difficult. I would go with the ADN program as you will have more time to work and it isn't as fast paced as an ABSN. Besides working full time do you have any other commitments?

Specializes in L&D, infusion, urology.

You're going to need to keep getting As in your prerequisites to boost your GPA and be at all competitive in getting into a program. An accelerated program may be really difficult while working, especially if you want to do well.

Some BSN programs are moving from 3 years to 2 (mine has). I know there are people in my program who work, but I don't believe anyone with a family has been doing it, at least in my class.
