- Jun 28, '12 by SopranoKrisHalfway through an 8 week summer Anatomy class...yay! We've had 2 exams so far. Yesterday's exam was the skeletal system, the muscles & blood. I noticed we lost a few more students today. I can't believe the number of kids who just simply don't show up at all for class. What are they thinking???? There's a group of 5 of us who always stay the entire time for lab. The instructor loves the fact that we're so serious, so he always goes over things with us in much more detail than he does in lecture. We're getting so much more out of it than those that leave as soon as lab starts. He's a great instructor, but you definitely get out of it what you put in to it!
We started on the Respiratory system today, next week: cardiovascular, digestive & nervous systems.
I'm thoroughly enjoying this class! I've made friends with some students who are also pre-nursing students. We've all signed up for the same Physiology & Microbiology classes for next semester.
Anyone have a school that is against dissection? Apparently, the new Dean of Science at our school (who has a PhD in Theatre!!!
) is against dissection, so now we can't do any dissection in lab. We have to watch the instructor do it IF there are actually parts available. UGH! I feel like we're missing out on valuable, hands-on learning.
- Jul 4, '12 by SopranoKrisNext week's exam is Respiratory system, Heart & Circulatory system, Digestive system & Lymphatic system. Whew! That's a lot to memorize! Only 3 & a half weeks to go...yay!!!!
- Jul 4, '12 by leenakI took AP1 last semester and our school uses minimal dissection. Honestly, unless you plan to go into cat surgery, it probably isn't that valuable. We did do cow eyeballs and sheep brain but mostly everything else was done on human models.
- Jul 18, '12 by bunnyfungoOur school is in the quarter system so we just started the summer quarter last week. I'm taking Physiology (my school also separates A&P) in 10 weeks. So far the class has just been review of basic chemistry and I'm sitting at a 95%
I'm so excited for this class!!
- Jul 19, '12 by Hoosier69just wanted to update:
i am on a financial aid warning at college due to the fact that i withdrew from 2 classes and didn't pass psych 101. i'm retaking psyc 101 online this summer, however, and have a 'b' at this moment. i am currently in the process of job hunting because i'm in a lot of medical debt, and my kids need orthodontics, esp. my oldest, a daughter (she has an anterior crossbite).
anyhoo, i may be headed back to college in august if the college lets me continue w/financial aid and if i don't have any job leads close to the college start date of august 20. - Jul 19, '12 by Miiki✿Quote from SopranoKrisThere's been no dissection in my A&P I Lab. No idea if well do it in the second lab either. Doesn't seem like we will.Halfway through an 8 week summer Anatomy class...yay! We've had 2 exams so far. At my school it seems like lab is anatomy, and lecture is physiology. - Jul 20, '12 by SopranoKrisQuote from MiikiWe finally got to dissect eyeballs in lab yesterday. I like doing hands-on things. It's helpful to see a real eye and not just a diagram. Our next exam is a killer...the entire nervous system. There is SO much to remember!!!There's been no dissection in my A&P I Lab. No idea if well do it in the second lab either. Doesn't seem like we will.

2 more exams to go and we're done. Can't wait to end this semester!!!
