Register Today!- Mar 2, '12 by Blue Felt FedoraQuote from f8dagrate{{{hugs}}}} just make sure you do better next time!well i really screwed up on my lecture exam essay.. it said name an example of muscle tissue.. i put fibrocartilage

we've got our lab midterm next week, so my study partners and i went into open lab today. it was packed! there were at least 3x as many students in there today as there were last friday. we stayed from 9am-2pm (from open to close today) and got a lot done. i'm so proud of us! this weekend, i'll be going over my lab drawings and continuing to study for that lab midterm. it's really got me wound up. - Mar 9, '12 by Blue Felt FedoraNo other A&P I students want to check in? I'm disappointed. :: pout pout ::
We had our lab midterms this week; mine was yesterday. I got an A!
This coming week is our spring break. On the advice of my lecture teacher, I'll be learning the muscles. The more familiar with them I am when we go back to class, the better off I'll be.
Apparently our next unit in lab is the cat dissection. I was very concerned about how I'd handle that until I saw one of the dissected cats in Open Lab. It didn't look very cat-like (as in pet cat), so I wasn't as freaked out as I thought I'd be. Although that little tongue sticking out was a little disturbing.
Come on, everybody! Check in. Let us know how you're doing. Share your successes. Ask for help with stuff you might be having trouble with.Last edit by Blue Felt Fedora on Mar 9, '12 : Reason: removing random smiley appearancenguyency77 likes this. - Mar 9, '12 by leenakBeen too busy studying! We had our lab exam last night and I kicked butt. There was one slide (spongy tissue) that I wasn't positive about and I should've checked my lab notes prior so I might've got that wrong. Spring break is next week, then we have our second lecture exam after. Feel prett confident in the bones and joints though.nguyency77 likes this.
- Mar 9, '12 by troop949We're just returning from Spring Break at my school, so we're on the home stretch. I'm doing well in lecture; aced the first exam and only missed 1 on the second exam. Our 3rd exam will be in a couple of weeks. Lab is a bit more difficult, but I'm doing well in it. I got a B+ on the 1st lab exam and we have our 2nd one coming up soon. Lots of memorization for lab - that's where we focus on the specifics of bones & muscle names and functions. Lecture focuses on the physiological aspects of the tissues/organs. Sometimes it seems like we're taking two different courses, because of how our labs & lectures are structured, but overall, I think the stuff we're learning is fascinating! It's really amazing what our bodies can do and how everything works together to keep us alive.
Oh, and, if you can, DO take advantage of any tutoring/study groups you can. The more you review and talk about the material, the more it "sticks" in your brain.
- Mar 9, '12 by kmlnielsenI got an 88 on my first exam and I have 100 on all quizzes. The problem I have is my instructor keeps leading us down these rabbit holes of such and such WILL be on the test know it completely and then she never tests over it. But she had a 20 point labeling question over something we never covered. I have two previous degrees and I have never had a professor do this before. For the next exam I will let common sense prevail and evenly distribute my time.
- Mar 9, '12 by nguyency77@kmlnielsen: Yes, my teacher does that, too. For example, he will mention the syndesmoses of the tibia and fibula a dozen times, reiterating that it will indeed be on the test... And yet, no test question.
On topic: I'm doing great on all the quizzes and homework assignments in my class. We'll see about the test, as we only have a midterm and a final exam. I won't get my grade til the end of next week. I am so anxious, especially after reading my hybrid class' discussion boards. There are many people who sincerely believed they failed. Hopefully I wasn't one of them. :icon_roll - Mar 9, '12 by ADN2BA&P will be your best friend throughout school, you will just keep expanding your knowledge.

- Mar 16, '12 by Boxer MamaTest (lecture & lab) #2 are in the books and I am heading into spring break next week, but I still have a lot to study on my "vacation." I have been taking my phone and recording videos of my teacher going over the models we have our tests on for the muscles. Learning in a book is not even close to what the muscles look like on the models. I am done with class on May 2, so I think it is going to be a hard push to the finish to get everything in we need to since due to some circumstances caused by an outside person we are about a week behind. I cannot believe how fast this semester is going!
