On-Line Anatomy and Physiology Accredited

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Dear Listmates: Does anyone know of an accredited A&PI that is offered on-line? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi, I know you mentioned taking the A&P courses online- were those transferable to other major Universities?

I am trying to contact some local schools and see if they would accept an online A&P course, but I haven't heard back from anyone.

Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!

artofgrace,

Sounds like we're in the same boat-except I'm about to be 30 in a couple weeks!! I just signed up for A&P 1 online through Ivy Tech Community College. Class starts Oct. 20th. I've taken classes online before (different school) but nothing science related, so this will be a first for me.

I'm taking AP1 online right now through ccconline. Its 225.40/credit for out of state (CO). You buy a lab kit and do them at home. The exams are open book but are not easy. We have lots of assignments, labs and journal entries - 1050 points in total for 10 units, with an exam only worth 20. I was worried about them being online too, but when I got my transcripts they show up as regular classes from your 'parent' school. I love my class although its definitely a LOT of work, I'm going to take AP2 and Micro online this summer.

Hi Nicole,

I take it your in Indiana? Did you want to email me so we can talk?

I look forward to hearing from you!

Hi Nicole,

I left my email address, but the web host took it down saying that you are not allowed to put your email address up for spamming reasons.

You can only private message someone after 15 replys or posts. : (

Was hoping to talk to you about all of this. I didn't even realize that Ivy Tech had an Anatomy and Physiology course online. It doesn't seem to be the entire course, and what about the labs?

Ariane,

I am actually right across the border in IL. I have been speaking with a counselor at Ivy Tech this last week. So far, they have been great to work with. I am going to double check everything again on Monday, but it is my understanding that the entire course is online. It looks like there is a lab kit to purchase along with the textbook. the text is like $293.00!! I am hoping all this can be rolled into my student loans, that is another thing I have to handle on Monday. Have you applied there?

Hi Nicole,

I am in Dyer. I didn't know that Ivy Tech even had an online course, until you mentioned it. But I am a little weary, since usually Anatomy and Physiology are 2 course, and this is only 1. I will try and get a hold of someone on Monday about it. I am glad you mentioned it! : )

I did apply there, but I am not actually going there yet. The academic advisor that I spoke with told me that for the Nursing program, they only accept people with the highest grades in Anatomy and Physiology.

So for now, I just have to get the classes done, and then look into going there.

It looks like we're neighbors! I am in Crete. I am also calling Purdue Cal on Monday to get info on their program since that may be the only program in the area to tranfer to. I am worried about going to Ivy Tech and then trying to transfer to an Illinois school, the requirements seem to differ. Well good luck. Please let me know of any additional info you find out and I will do the same!

You have to take both A&P 101 and A&P 102 at Ivy Tech as pre-reqs for theirs and most other nursing schools. I took them both online through Ivy Tech and got A's in both, although it helps to be the type of learner who does well with textbook reading rather than lecture.

The online courses at Ivy Tech are APHY 101 and APHY 102 if you want to look them up. In the class search function, you have to select "Online Only" to find them. You can take the classes through any campus. You have to go to your local campus to take two of the four exams, but you DON'T have to go to the specific campus that your class is out of if you don't live there. For example I live near Indpls. and I took 101 out of Muncie and 102 out of Columbus and took my exams at the Indpls campus.

Nicole, sounds like you are taking the 101 class in the 8-wk half-term. It will be quite intense but you can do it! I took 102 in a 10-wk summer term this past summer.

Hi, thanks so much for your help! I already registered for the 8 week half term for A & P 101. I will have to do the other A & P 102 in Spring. Are you in Nursing school already? If so, what school are you in? I felt so overwhelmed this semester, but then realized that I don't need to get in by Fall of 2010. It would be nice, but if I don't then I don't. Stressing over it won't help any! :wink2:

Oh, sorry! I wanted to ask- you wouldn't still have any of your text books by any chance?? I would be willing to buy them from you! I know that they charge a lot for their books but don't give you much back when you sell them back. Thanks again! :wink2:

I talked to the nursing dept. yesterday. There is an information session Thursday. The next is October 15th. Deadline is April for Fall 2010 and I will not have the APHY102 done until May. I forgot to ask if Gary has a spring start. Do you know? Also, the teas is required.

Hi, no, I am not in nursing school. . .yet. I applied at the Indy campus for Spring 2010 and am waiting to hear. Unfortunately I don't have books to sell. I am currently taking 201 in person, and I need the textbook to refer to for that class.

I will say that for the at-home labs, I only did the ones that were computer-simulated or watching videos. I did not do any that were dissecting (cow eyeball, sheep brain, chicken wing in 101, fetal pig in 102). In fact I didn't even buy the lab kit for 102. I did buy it for 101 but really didn't use it at all.
