Hi!!! I have been reading this post for quite a while, and I am taking my NLN tomorrow. MY school has about 30 applicants for nursint this quarther,a nd only 12 get in. I have the following core classes and grades.
    Anatomy and physiology: A
    Medical Terminology: A
    SCT 100: B
    Math: B
English: Hoping for a B, still taking
Psychology: Pretty sure I will get an A, also still taking.

I am soooo nervous, and really hope I get in. I have been studying the science part like crazy!! Does any one have any suggestions on the NLN?
Please pray for me, and Congratulations on everyone who has already gotten into the nursing program. How long does it take your scores to get back?

take your time and dont rush but at the same time make sure you allow yourself enough time to finish each section. If you are having a hard time on something try not to spend a chunk of your time on it....just choose an answer and write down the number so you can go back to it if you have time. Dont stress too much and good luck!

My results came in 17 days...they had told me two weeks, but it took a few more days and those few more days were torturous!!! Good luck. I took mine on November 28 so I'm guessing you have your results by now..how'd you do?

I got an overall score of 56, they were looking for a 60, so I guess I will be taking them again

Mash, Does that mean your composite percentile score was a 56? Seems to me that everyone that I read about on here has a score that's in the 90's...unreal to me to score that high. The first time I took it I had a 71...anyway, If it's the composite percentile score...I got an 80 and my composite was a 118...we have to have above a 50 in each subject in order to apply in my state. I can't take it again for 6 months and I'm going through the application process now...I just hope it's goos enough...I'm trying to stay possitive...my GPA is 3.85... and all my science classes are A's....

I took the NLN exam on 12/11/07 and got the results back by 12/17/07 - wow that was quick. I was nervous taking the test (because the study guide only had 1% of similar questions). I was nervous waiting. Now I am anxious to see what the school will do in the evaluation of my scores. I hope I got in - I got an overall composite score of 99, with a 93 on Verbal, 98 on Math and 99 on Science. I am only going to a community school with between 60 & 100 applicants per semester and I hear 40% to 50% get in per semester.

well the 56 was under the column of of all so I'm guessing that is the composite score

The composite score is out of 200, mine was a 151. Composite percentile is out of 100%. And yes, this is the first time I took the test. I have a strong background in physics and math, just took my first biology and will be taking A&P and Micro in the next 2 semesters.

They rate each subject based on a test population sample then calculate the overall percentile for everything. There are 3 categories of ratings. The "All" category is used for nursing. I got a 93 in verbal, 98 in math and a 99 in science, with an overal composite rating of 99. How this is calculated, I am not sure.

Most I have talked with have gotten in the low 80's total the first time and some have gotten as high as 93 the second time. My school requires about a 91 for the current applicants, but it is not the only thing considered. They are interested in all 3 scores, but are particularly interested in the science grade. Just that I got a 99, doesn't automatically mean that I am in the program.

I believe "Stuffnsuch" is right about the 50 minimum required in each category. I am not sure however, how they compile the numbers into a composite of all the areas. While some schools still don't use the test for entrance qualifications, many do. Each school has a different requirement for entrance score based on the number of applicants and teacher/student ratio. My school is using 91 this comming fall as a minimum, (as they stated), and will weed out 50%-60% of all applicants. Many larger schools have a much smaller acceptance rate. With my score, I could probably go anywhere, but the school I am attending is practically in my back yard.

I'll be taking the nln pax-rn test in march 2008 and i was wondering if anybody has great tips on how to study or prepare effectively for all the various sections in the test. I really want to do very well on this test and i'm willing to put all my humanly possible effort in this. Please HELP!

I don't know if that is the same test I took, but I think it is. I used a cream colored book from the school bookstore. Although I did well on the test, less than 10% of the material covered in the entire book was used. In fact I only recall 1 or 2 words in the vocabulary. The math section was a little better.

Most people I met were telling me there is a Gold colored NLN study guide that is about 3" thick available from the bookstores that is quite good.

    Good Luck
