New Student Needs Advising

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello Everyone,

I am new to this forum. Here is my situation: I am a transfer student from a CC and will be attending UC Davis for the next two years to complete my undergrad degree in Managerial Economics, which is essentially a business degree.

I am also considering completing a ELM in Nursing to become a RN after graduation.

I feel that between these two degrees I would have more career options, I would like to be an RN, but maybe 30 years from now I might want to work in Health Administration.

I have been researching programs in California and I am getting the feeling that this degree is going to take at least three more years which I am not interested in! I would like to complete something in two years or less. I also need to take a year of chem, human anatomy, and physiology.

So, what do you guys think? Should I just forget the idea of becoming an RN? Maybe I should just pursue a master's degree in health admin instead?

I just really can't get my mind off the idea of becoming a RN. I really admire nurses and think I have what it takes to be one. I wish I had the confidence to take the prereqs in CC.

I'm confused, any suggestions would be helpful and thanks for listening!

(Also, if you have any other career suggestions please share)

Do not be afraid to do your courses at the CC- they are comparable and not necessarily easier than at the University level.

Simply put, If you want to be a RN, go for what your heart tells you
