Need some help: Boston area 2nd bachelors programs?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello!

I am a new member and I am looking into nursing schools. I am getting my first bachelors and planning on applying to some accelerated 15-16 month nursing programs specifically for people who have a bachelors in another area. I have some pre-reqs but I don't have A&P 2, microbiology or chemistry (assuming i'll have to take those). I really don't know where to apply, which ones are easier to get into/shorter wait list etc.

Some background:

I am getting a bachelor of science in maternal child health and lactation consulting (graduation 2017) and I will be getting my IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant). I will have a 300 hour internship at Exeter hospital under an RN IBCLC.

I spent 1 year at Colby-Sawyer college and got some general ed requirements, spent a semester at community college and finally transferred to an online program at union institute and university to finish up.

I will have a GPA over 3.3 for my first bachelors (could be upwards of a 3.9) don't really know yet). My pre-reqs aren't the best as I had a hard time in science courses and some semesters that made me want to pull my hair out:

Biology: C

Statistics: B-

Psychology: C

Sociology: C+

Human growth and development: A

Anatomy and physiology I: B-

What do you think my chances are of getting into an accelerated program? I still have to take A&P 2, microbiology, and likely nutrition because I have a health and wellness course and a maternal and infant nutrition course but not human nutrition. Some programs might also want chemistry.

I am thinking about MGH, Northeastern, UMASS Boston, Regis.... Any thoughts? I feel like I'm walking in the dark when it comes to applying for these programs.

Thanks for your help!

I'm sorry, I really don't have advice regarding accelerated programs, but I would like to ask you how you liked Union's MCH program. I am an RN with an ASN and was thinking about enrolling in that program to pursue IBCLC.
