Thanks for the confirmation catzy

The more I think about it the more I want to go to NU. I have some help in the financial department too. But I guess I can always get someone to car pool with me to drive up there. Plus I see they do clinicals close to where I live. I hope this is one school that lets you have some choice in clinicals because at my school there was no choice. And most students were assigned halfway across town rather than close to where they live. And with the gas prices it was a big concern.

Cohort 12, the one that I left for working full-time, was a mess. After the fires, people were going nuts because although the fires closed our facility for a week, the due dates for assignments were pretty much the same. I will return in Feb.,with Cohort 13, what I know is that in Fundamentals (NSG200-lecture), we are to know calculations of drugs. If you fail the test, you could take it again nand it is not the same test. Please, to all brush up on your medical abbreviations and, most importantly, Drug Calculations and Drug Calculations. Once you master Drug Calculations, the rest is memorization and theory, in my opinion. Get your books early; go to NU.edu book store or get them cheaper on Amozon or Half.com.There is not a huge choice when the clinicals are handed out; just a slight consideration and most importantly, what the different hospital's availablity to accommodate students will be (this is from the Nursing Director's own words). They are done the second month in NSG200. For Cohort 13, this is mid to late-March. Carpooling is also a great idea on Mondays (lecture with the whole class of 50+), lab is twice a week in a smaller group. Good Luck To All

Thanks mommalumps! (gosh love your name. How did you come by it?)

So it's like your in class 12? (or13) is that it? The first class (cohort) was cohort one then? So they've had 12 previously hmmmm ok. Just wondering. At my school I am in class 54. Named for each year so the program has been running for 54 years. I will be doing the LVN-BSN so that should give me a year of credit. That fire messed us up too. No school for a week and we didn't get taught some pharmacology like we should have. It was just skipped.

That's great you get to enroll in the next cohort. What... do they start every three or four months? That would be great. More of a chance to get in. I hear the whole program is like 22 months and less for LVN-BSN, something like 16 months.

<sigh> I just might be an LVN by March or April . Can hardly wait! As soon as I get my LVN I am applying!

Do you know how much National University's BSN program ACTUALLY costs??? If anyone could give me an estimate that would be great!! Thanks

Well, thanks Faeriewand...Thanks for asking about my name; it comes from a combination of my daughter's observation and the most important job in the world. I have a 13 year old and a set of 10 year old frat twins. My stomach is a bit lumpy, as my daughter says.. thus spawned the name "Mommalumps" . Your school has a cool syatem of naming the different cohort; historically is the best. Every 20th cohort or class that graduates together, the number shifts back to 1 or cohort 1. Congrats to you and remember that coffee is your friend.
For NatalieSD, the cost is $45,000for 22-24 months.Don't panic, though, you could get a Stafford loan or grants. The Stafford is for $10K (You have to apply 4 times during the program). Expensive? Yes! Worth it? yes; NU is a private school with no 2-3 year waiting list. It is fast paced, and the best part is that after the first year, you could sit for you NCLEX exam and, while you work as an RN, you will be taking the remained of your classes for your BSN on-line.

$26,000 or so for the accelerated BSN or generic entry program, which is 22-months long in total.

I finally applied to the BSN (generic entry) program at NU. I was told that the wait to hear back is much shorter now, just 3-5months.

The ACCUPLACER math was SOO hard! I tested into 12B on my first try, and College lvl English. I utterly failed the College Algebra part, but according to my advisor, as long as you place into 12A or 12B all will be well. He said the accuplacer results take a back seat to cumulative gpa and the personal statement (essay). So...I will post when I hear back as to whether I am admited. See ya in 3-5 months!!

Hi! I recently applied to NU and I am hoping to start the BSN program in October of this year. Still no word back yet, as they take 3-5 months to respond.

Anyhow, I just wanted to ask you a couple of questions about the program if you don't mind.

#1 How long is the Nursing/Clinical portion of the program...ie, how long in months until you can take the NCLEX?

#2 How long is the program in total? Are there any vacations? I am trying to plan a week long vacation to Lake Powell during the summer of 2010 and I wondered if there are any days off.

How do you like the program? Any information would really help! Thanks!!
