Re: Math NET help?
OK let me see if I can help!
A trick is to make sure everything is in 100 if you're trying to get percents. For example, "the ratio of 2:5 = ?%", so make a number 100. So the problem would now read "the ratio of 40:100 = ?%", and the answer would be 40/100=40%, answer B. Or if you knew 2/5 = somewhere around 40%, you could have ruled out answers A, C, and D.
Another trick is to put the answers back into the equation and solve to see if it's correct. For example, the first problem 3/16 = ?% X 3/4. So let's plug in answer A which is 20% and see if it works:
3/16 = .20 X 3/4
.1875 = .15, so 20% isn't the answer, it has to be higher. So by default it has to be 25% because that's the only other answer they gave us that's higher than 20%, but let's test it just in case.
3/16 = .25 X 3/4
.1875 = .1875 CHECK! So B., 25% is the right answer.
I find this method to be REALLY useful when you need to work FAST and make sure you have the correct answer. I have to say that I plugged in answers to equations on nearly half of the questions on my NET test as I found it the most convenient way to do things.
OK, the last problem says 7 2/5 of x = 74. Here, you could also plug in answers and then solve to see if they're correct. So let's use 500 for starters (answer D). Take 500 and multiply it by .074 (which is 7 2/5 in decimal form with the decimal moved over twice to the left to get a percent) and that would give you 34. So 500 isn't the answer, and we KNOW it has to be higher than 500 because we need the answer to be 74, which is higher than 34. So the answer HAS to be 1000 (answer B). But let's try it just in case so as to check ourselves.
1000 x .074 = 74! Perfect. If your brain works this way, you could have just converted 7 2/5 to 7.4 and then .074 and realized you had to move the decimal over 3 places to get 74 from .074 and thus had to multiply by 1000. But mine doesn't work that way and I always have to write the whole thing out!
These are the ways I personally would have solved these equations.

Easiest way for me to get through the NET was to do it this way and it was easily finishable using these methods in the alotted time!!! Hope this helped.
