I remember the heat vividly! I'm prior service myself and was in basic training at Lackland in the dead of black flag summer weather. Blech! Although, aside from the heat, I really did enjoy the city of SA!
I guess we can get used to about anything

Well, if you lived there, especially in the mountains, you would not love the snow. If I never see another snow again, it will be too soon. When you get snowed in for days, it gets real old. I cant handle being couped up for days. One or two is ok, but not when it goes on for several months. They even had to close the roads going down the mountain at times. No fun at all.
We've spent time in Colorado and I remember one X-Mas Eve when a blizzard hit It's better for my arthritis to stay in SA which would kick in in the cold, I think I am better off staying in the South :spin:

Blizzard, yes, we had a 3 foot blizzard in 1993. We couldnt even get out our back door. Just one more thing I like about Texas. Hardly any snow, and not nearly as much rain. I think the only state that gets more rain than Tennessee is Washington State. It is kind of depressing when you get rain almost every day of the week.

The drought this summer took a toll on everybodies pretty lawns. Ours still looks pretty sorry. We had a little rain here today.
But boy when it rains heavily.....SA floods badly, luckily we live in an elevated area.
I loved Colorado and wished we could have stayed, for some reason it didn't feel as cold as it was. Well, I was much younger then.....

What part of Tennessee did you live in?? I am from Memphis (34yrs) just recently moved to Clarksville. Tennessee is not a rainy state from the places I lived, well I am speaking of Memphis and Clarksville as far as I can see. If anything Memphis is a hot and dry pladce to live.:smiletea2:

I am willing to practice nursing wherever the quality of life is good (and there aren't too many snakes).
