LACC Nursing What are my chances as an alternate?

Past or current LACC nursing students/alumni,

I am number 45 on the alternates list. Are my chances good of getting in? I haven't received any offers and LACC seems like my only chance. Please tell me what highest alternate number got in? :(

Just saw your thread. I'm currently in a similar situation; waiting on the alternate list. So what happened? Did you get in? Also, do you know how many people are on the waitlist?

I didn't get in. Students that had alternate numbers as high as 30 got in. I reapplied for Spring and got in. There is still hope ! Good luck :)

You are welcome Edith. To answer your question; from what I remember, I was 5-7 spots away from getting in. About ten people didn't show up on orientation day, and the alternates that were there got automatic spots (by alternate number). But it also depends on how many alternates show up trying to get in as well. That day, there were about 20 alternates that showed up. I highly encourage that you show up on orientation day :). I was so close in getting in and my number was higher than yours!

While you were waiting did you contact admissions frequently? I am stuck wondering if I should contact them every other week or wait for them to contact me. Also, did they contact you regarding when the orientation day was on?

I was in the same position as you, so I understand the frustration and confusion. I made this thread and I didn't receive answers lol. That is why I am giving you insight on what I experienced. Usually students take about 2 weeks to make a decision to either accept or decline their spot. I waited those two weeks and started checking my status once a week. You're going to receive a letter invitation from the program for the orientation through your mail in about a week or so. The letter is going to have your alternate number, date of orientation, and time.

Is this letter of invitation different from the medical packet? Some people mentioned a medical packet they turned in during orientation day in the other LACC threads.

When you called back after the initial 2 weeks, did your number move up on the list? Did they hint at students declining spots?

Applicants that accept their spot will receive a letter and a medical packet. Alternates, like how I was last semester, will only receive a letter. Once you are accepted as an alternate you will get mailed a packet. If it is last minute, like at orientation, it will be hand delivered. As I called every week, my number did go up. One week i'd be 40, the other i'd be 35, and so on. That's how I knew students were beginning to decline.

Work has been crazy for me. Wish I couldv'e replied sooner. By the end of orientation I dropped to number 7. I went to the MOAB and two more people dropped bumping me up to number 3 and that's where I stayed.

The second time around you applied, was the waitlist situation similar? Do you know if a lot of alternates moved up in Spring or got offered seats?

Do you remember if students did not show up for your Spring Orientation day?

I'm just trying to stay positive and I realized that your waitlist experience was for Fall.
