Sometimes we don't give ourselves enough credit for our own accomplishments. Getting into Nursing school is hard. All the prerequisites, financial obligations, not to mention juggling our personal lives ... all can be very difficult. We applied to and were accepted into our Nursing program and should be very proud. WE DID IT!! What obstacles did you have to overcome to get into your Nursing program?

All of the above! I work 40 hours in four days, so I had to cut my hours down at work in order to complete my pre-reqs. I work 7-7 three days a week, so some days I would go to work for a few hours, drive 20 mins to the school, attend class/classes, then head right back to work to finish my shift. It made for a very long day! This also meant a cut paycheck, so struggles to pay bills on time. I also have a 6 yo son and I had to cut my time with him in order to get my study time in. I have to keep telling myself that it will all be worth it in the end! Congrats by the way!!

I signed up for school and filed for divorce in the same week!!! My ex-husband didn't think I needed to have a job. I didn't want to be trapped in the house all day as my son was now in elementary school. It was tough. I had started school 15 years prior and quit when I got married. So I still had a lot to do. I took 5 classes. English comp, Algebra I, A&P II, Micro, and a student success class where I had to do a paper and a presentation so it wasn't a fluff class!! Plus, go visit my lawyer, make court dates, my son was in counseling, and our judo travels. I was so darn busy!! I just kept telling myself it would all be worth it in the end if I can get myself into nursing school.

This past spring I was still adjusting to being a single mom and trying to travel for my son's competitions. I took 4 classes. Advanced physiology, intermediate algebra, psych, and sociology. Lots of studying and trying to be there for my son as he had difficulties adjusting to our new life. But I made it through the prereqs with only 1 B in micro!!! I was so happy!

In June I got the letter I was accepted. I knew my journey was just beginning but the fact I had made it was like a huge weight being lifted off of my chest. I sat down and had a good, long, hard cry for the first time since I had filed for divorce. I let it all out. Every ounce of pain, every bit of disappointment, every feeling of happiness all rolled into one. This was my new life and it had scared the heck out of me. But I did it. Despite everything I achieved something. My marriage was not a good one and I felt like no one believed in me anymore. I didn't believe in me.

This journey has been the best of my life. And I did it. No one else got those grades but me. I am extremely grateful for where I am now and my confidence is finally back. Honestly, if I can do it, so can you if you just put your mind to it!!

I am a single mom who worked full time and sacrificed what little social life I had to get thru my pre reqs just 2 at at time. I persevered and am now just 2 short weeks away from starting my nursing program!:yeah: I am so grateful and excited to be where I am!
