Im worried Online pre-req classes will lower my chances?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I need to take several pre-reqs online. Will taking distance learning classes lower my chances of getting into the nursing program I want to go to? Tarrant County College, they have a fierce competition!!! Im worried they may take points off??? I will be taking my science classes on campus. Helppp please!

I took my A&PI, A&PII, Statistics, English comp I & II, and Philosophy all on line. Most were for my ADN but a few were pre reqs for my BSN bridge program. I just started the RN program at my local CC. When I went to my CC to enroll for classes they told me that they could sign me up for online classes so I wouldn't have to make the drive to school. I loved it! And with 4 kids and a husband it really helped. There is nothing wrong with online classes most of the people in my program have taken at least one online class.

Make sure the classes are accredited, and that the acredidation is through an organization that your school recognizes.

One of the schools in my area does not accept science courses taken online. If the courses taken were at their school, they can tell by the section number whether it was online or on campus. They require a syllabus for every science course not taken at their school so they can verify that it was taken on capus.

This is one of those situatuions where getting a straght answer is impossible without contacting the specific school.

You should just contact the school and ask them directly. I took all my prereqs @ a community college and they didn't offer classes like micro, anat, ap, or chem online. I transferred to a university and was accepted to their BSN program and their application explicitly says no online sciences allowed. So check with your school.

I have taken several online prerequisite classess, and I got accepted into a nursing program. I am even taking a few online nursing classess. I think online is completely acceptable. My school actually liked seeing that we took online classes, because a few nursing classes like Drug dosage and calculations was only offered online.

This may not relate to the topic at hand. I have been accepted to a very good, however, expensive school for an accelerated BSN. I have also applied to the HRSA scholarship. My question is whether or not the people at HRSA look at how expensive your school is when deciding on who to award the scholarship to . Thank you

If this information was not included in the scholarship application information, then you should call or write, and ask.

I took all of my pre-reqs online and got into TCC's program. They don't take that into consideration at all.

Thank you!

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate your feedback! Im so overwhelmed over TCC nursing competition! I want every point I can get! Im nervous about not getting in. Over 500 people apply for this program and only 135 are ACCEPTED!

Hi country73

You mentioned that you took several online pre-req classes. What school was it that accepted you? I have taken 2 online pre-req classes so I'm wondering what schools accept online classes. Thank you for the info.

As long as it's a non-science course, you're fine! You completed the course work required and got a satisfactory grade. Gen ed online classes are commonly taking by many people! I took a few myself.
