I'm terrified I won't get into nursing school

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hello,

My name is Rachel and I am a Junior at University of Central Missouri. I just recently applied for the nursing program at my school and I am so terrified I won't get in. I am applying late because I retook physiology and got B in it this time. I got a 'C' in anatomy and I'm not taking microbiology until this upcoming semester. I was wondering if I have a better chance at getting into the program because I am not a transfer? I have taken all of my pre - req's at this same university. Also my GPA is a 3.3, the required GPA is a 2.75. I'm scared I'm not going to get in because alot of people say at universities it's hard to get in unless you have a 3.5. One of my friends got in the program with a 3.4. This is just totally stressing me out because I've already taken 3 years to apply and if i don't get in I'll have to wait another year... I have never wanted something so bad and in my academics I work really hard (even though I don't have a 4.0...) I have nightmares that I'm not going to get in almost every night. I talked to my advisor before school got out, and may I add that MANY people have told me she's very straight forward and will tell people if she doesn't think they will get in. However, when I met with her she told me I was in the right direction for applying when I completed all the steps except the application. What do you guys think? Should I apply to more than one school? Only reason I haven't applied to others is because I'm not financially stable at all right now and it's $30 for each additional school so I can't afford that. And alot of the schools in the Kansas City area are very prestigious.

I understand your stress. I cannot say for sure what your chances are, but I do want to wish you luck. Your GPA would make you a slam dunk in my program. They set the bar at 2.0.

How long do you have to wait for an answer? Are you going the ADN or BSN route?

Where I live, it doesn't matter if you're a transfer or not. Some schools it does. There are 2 schools here that go by a point system, and they give you more points for how ever many credits you take at their school.

Most of the schools in my area don't give you any more admission weight if you are a current student.

I'd hedge my bets and at least apply to one other nursing program.

Does a local community college near you have a partnership with your university for a bsn?

You can apply there and take their nursing entrance exam. It will be less competitive and in-between the cost for a standard adn/bsn.

I am going to get BSN and Im not quite sure how long I have to wait. The nursingCAS hasnt even gotten my transcript and applications are due Jan. 1st.

Its good to hear from other people, it really helps. Im not sure about the partnership thing, I haven't heard of anything like that.

I'm in a similar situation! I'm only applying to one program and eventho my grades are good & everything's in order I'm still nervous! But we don't have to take an entrance exam , we just have to have a certain act score! I will be retaking my ACT in January to get a higher score because it's been 5 years since I took my act! But I wish u luck and stay positive, u will get in
