I took my TEAS exam last month and I was officially accepted into the LPN program at Concorde in Portland OR.

I am beyond excited...all this time stressing out and worrying is finally behind me. Now I have a few months to relax before its time to start stressing out again :)

Congrats to the both of you! I am playing the waiting game right now! So I am stressing right now! I should find out sometime next month if I made it in fall 2012 RN class!

I trully want to relax these next few months but I have so much I need to take care of, I am moving to Portland so I need to find a place to live and a part time job. Are you working at all?

Any recommendations on how to prepare before school starts? Did you do any reading before?

[color=#2f4f4f]wow! so you have a lot you have to get done beforehand. i hope you get to re-cooperate and above all else, get settled before the program begins.

my first two days were great! my instructor is avid about handing us out papers/outlines that we must complete and be graded for completion (i'm talking about....she uses tree after tree with these handouts!) i literally sat in class for 3 hours and finally finished it working straight without a break (it's a 4 hour class). it's work, but i am enjoying so much that i forget it's that much work, until my hand starts getting weak on me! :D

i am currently not working. i was working up until last semester, which was the last semester of my pre-reqs. my job was not working with me at all, so i had no choice, for i was not going to jeopardize my grades when i live at home and don't have a pile of bills. i plan on working after i get my lpn as i bridge over to my rn.

go ahead and buy your usual school supplies, you know, binders, pens, highlighters, index cards, etc, etc. if you can and start organizing it all and store it away in a safe place. but, of course if your program doesn't begin until the time of back-to-school sales, i'd wait! that would be perfect. you have such an advantage for knowing so much ahead of time to! i envy that! lol, i got the call last tuesday and started this monday. i was freaking out rushing everywhere to get what i needed to start out with. once i got my books, i didn't overwhelm myself by looking through to the middle or the end of the book. i glanced over the first two chapters and did a little reading out of each course book to get a just of how things will start out. that helped ease my nerves a lot! it never hurts to keep brushed up a tad on a&p material that you may still have lying around. other than that, i didn't do any other preparations for the program. good luck girl and enjoy your time while you can, even with relocating! ;)

A good place to start is to start working on NCLEX questions now! Get a review book if you haven't already. I KNOW this is why the tests were not such a shock to me as they were for everyone else. When I started my program I found out in November that I was starting in January. The day I got my acceptance letter I went straight out a bought an NCLEX book and did questions everyday for the next 2 months.

Don't worry if you don't know the answers... its the rationals and the STYLE that you are practicing at this point!

Congrats Patty. I am hoping to take the TEAS exam (next year) and be accepted to then start an LPN program too. I will be interested to hear how you like it. Is your program also 3 nights a week for 14 mo? I have two little ones so I can't do it just yet but hoping to by next year. We will see. :)
