I have a 2.94 gpa. Where should I apply for Fall 2013?

I live in Baltimore, MD. I attended University of Maryland, Baltimore County and CCBC. My parents live in Fairview Heights, IL (which is very close to St.Louis, MI). I grew up in Louisville, KY so I am also willing to go back there.

Barnes and University of Missouri are at capacity until Fall of 2014. SIUE also wants a gpa of 3.0.

Can you please help? I am not picky and very willing to take out financial aid for a private school. I also realize that a lot of deadlines are February 1st. I did not hear that I didnot get into University of Maryland's Nursing program until recently.

Thank you

delros,

I attend Chamberlain which offers a BSN program and they require a minimum 2.75 GPA, and a minimum of a 75 on the Hesi. They have campuses in IL, MI, and VA and other locations as well. You will also be able to do your pre-reqs there as well. There is an Open House coming up, you should check it out...I'm sure you will be impressed.

Hope this helps

Damn! You are literally JUST under the cut off for the 3.0 undergrad nursing programs. Do you already have a bachelors in another degree, or did you just finish your pre requisites?

I'm also in MD. AA Co attending the cc to transfer to UMSON.

As a student at UMSON I can tell you that if you under 3.0 chances are, you will not get in. Montgomery College is pretty much the same way. Not sure about FCC or Howard, but it seems that MD overall is very competitive state when it comes to nursing school acceptances. Could you re-take any of your pre-reqs to get your grades up and then reapply? How was your TEAS score?

I would personally recommend retaking those courses that you have C's in & then applying for nursing school. I am in MD also & actually went to UMBC for 1 year before switching to AACC to finish pre reqs & apply to nursing school. Retaking classes to get into a state school will cost money, but it will still be cheaper than attending a for-profit school such as Chamberlain. Also, retaking the courses will be a great way to make sure tha students really grasp the concepts in the pre reqs.

FCC was at about 3.67 when I started. GPA goes up every new class due to the large number of applicants. However, GPA was calculated ONLY from the classes that were pre-reqs, which may make a difference.

I would consider retaking classes you didn't get an A in. Just because you meet the minimum GPA requirement doesn't mean you will get in. You will have X number of people with higher GPAs applying for the same few spots. You must be competitive (even though it stinks to have to retake!)
