Human Anatomy and Microbiology at the same time...

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I am doing this now, along with a fulltime job. I will have to officially recommend that this not be undertaken. I work 3 or 4 12-15 hour shifts and i go to class on all my off days. Also, anatomy is much more labor intensive than i thought it would be and micro is not exactly a creampuff course. I thought i was a very good student and that this would be pretty easy. I am suitably humbled. Have not had a beer with my friends, ridden my bike or been to yoga since the beginning of the semester.

Ok, complaining over.

On the good side, i have the best grade so far in both classes and after this semester i will be 1 semester ahead of schedule since i decided to take these clases together. So that is definitely a good thing.

i did that samething. in the long run it prove to be a good thing. because once you start taking nursing classes it will be like that all the time and you will be more prepaird for it. starting to tell your friends no now will no dout help you out later. good luck and be seeing ya, lates.

LOL I hope it's doable because I have that next semester -- the second half of A&P and med mic.

Congrats on your good marks so far and keep up the good work!

It all depends how disciplined and organized you will be while taking them both. I am a firm believer that anything and everything is possible.

Best wishes to you.

We'll, I thought I would be superwoman and work full-time and take a/p 2 and micro together, but I will finally have to admit defeat. I had a a/p test and it was the test from hell. Nearly everthing I studied was not on the test. Out of 72 I got 40 correct answers and the class average was 38! Then the next day I had a lab practical in micro and couldn't find any specimens on my slides.

So I'm dropping a/p and will just concentrate on micro.

Specializes in Pediatric ICU.

Last semester I did A&P II and Micro together and pulled an A in both. However....big however, I had a super teacher in A&P. She cut through all the crap and only expected us to learn the most important stuff. She made sense of the kidneys, and the cardiovascular and respiratory systems.

My Micro teacher was tough because she was originally from India and had an accent. I do have to say that I worked my butt off in both classes.

I didn't work full time...for money. I have 3 kids and run them to (on average) two activities per kid every night of the week AND have a husband that travels. After 2:30, I'm in my car or waiting for a kid (swim practice, track meet, tutoring, scouts.....).

The trick is to take your notes/books with you where-ever you go. You can be looking at flashcards while your stopped at a red light! I get my studying done in snippets. Working full time will be challenging but it can be done if you have good study habits. Don't put anything off. Study when you can find the time and be organized. You can do it!

Anything and everything is possible.....if husband learns to put laundry soap in the dispenser and our towels don't smell worse once he is done with them, because he washed the dog blankets before the towels (also without soap) :chuckle (This is true and happened just a few days ago)

*Snort, sounds familiar .. although likely kitty poop would also be involved at my house.

I don't mean to be gross but the cat had peed on the dog blanket which got washed without soap before the towels were washed after that whithout soap...... :rotfl:

I don't know how I would do it and work either, I have enough with family and all....Good luck to you and hang in there :balloons:

:yeah: taking A&P and micro sounds like a challenge in itself but to work full time too is amazing to me. I plan on taking A&P Chemistry and Math this spring i just hope I can cut it. (always lack confidence and get really nervous with numbers)

Always Determined
